MORE RANDOM SPYRO STUFF!!!
So if I were to reboot the Spyro series (like Legend of Spyro and Skylanders rebooted Classic Spyro) these are the sort of nifty ideas I'd throw around.
Here Spyro is wingless. The golden sigil on his shoulder is magical, and he is linked with Sparx, who gives him the ability to fly and breathe fire (combining the link they had in the earlier games with the 'oooo epic magic wooooo' of Legend of'). I have an animation of how health works with Sparx colours stashed away for when I finish a few other animations
So, this 'fan game' (which'll never happen) takes place in the Light Realms and the Shadow Realms.

Here we see the 3 main Light Realms;
Dragon Shrines; home of the Guardian Dragons, sprinkled with shrines, temples, large koi ponds, little bridges etc. It's a cute forest, mostly japanese maples, and many well known characters are visiting the area- Elora the Faun, Moneybags the Bear etc.
Spyro, a young Guardian under the guidance of Ignitus, the Elder Guardian, starts his adventure in Dragon Shrines when the hatchling dragon he was supposed to guard, Flame, is kidnapped by sinister forces. The same sinister forces stole some scrolls and extinguished some lamps, so obviously collection quests and using Spyro's fire breath will be part of the gameplay.
The Guardian Temple is where Sacred Dragonfly Pools are kept, and unhatched dragon eggs, and the Scrolls of Knowledge; not the ideal place to be raided by sinister forces!

Butterfly Swamps; home of the Beast Maker Dragons, who live in a village built on stilts out of the algae-covered water of the swamp. Not that they mind the sloppy mess; if it weren't for the nipping fish they would happily wade through the muddy areas.
The largest buildings in the Beast Maker village contain, of all things, sheep and butterflies. There is a large netted area that forms a butterfly house, where the dragons collect caterpillars which they then feed to livestock. This is because 'fodder' animals need to be both nutritious for dragons and their companion dragonflies (I'm using a quirk from the classic games - that fodder animals contain magical butterflies - to do some world building here).
Also I'm bringing back Bubble Breath from Enter the Dragonfly; Beast Maker dragons have a special stone that gives them Bubble Breath that they use to capture escaped butterflies.
The sinister forces came to Butterfly Swamps and ripped the netting of the butterfly house, let some sheep loose, stole some rare butterfly-friendly flowers and generally made a mess of the place. A purple dragon will have to solve this.
(May dump some Skylander cameos on this level - - although I know very little about Skylanders. There's a fish dude, right?)

Savannah Grasses; home of the Peace Keeper Dragons, who are having disagreements with the other locals after they were kicked out of their war camp and are having trouble fitting into the animal village. If only there was a purple dragon willing to kick some Gnorcs out of a war camp...
The animal village (will get a better name) is home to characters such as Hunter the Cheetah (who will challenge Spyro to race him), Sheila the Kangaroo (who has beef with the Peace Keeper Dragons) as well as other characters. They have a well which provides them with water, but the calabashes that everyone uses for handy water storage have been stolen by (lucky guess) sinister forces, so another collection quest is needed.
Also I'm gonna have some random tall giraffe npcs wondering peacefully over the landscape because giraffes are cool.

So in the Light Realms we have 3 collection quests (scrolls, flowers and calabashes), some other good challenges, and a diversity of environments (very wet, very dry, and um... forest?)
What does Northwyrm have planned for the Dark Realms? Does she have all your favourite characters in her fangame plan yet? Who knows?
