Description
Multimedia piece done on 24" x 24" wood.Took some inspiration as well as some loose pose reference from [link]
The linework is mostly done with Sharpies & various other pens. I did most of the color on this one with Prismacolor markers (which I didn't really care for in the end... it brought out the wood grain too much). The background was done with watercolors & wood stain.
Still learning... been doing too much digital stuff in the past... next piece will be a major improvement I believe.

very, very impressive... it looks very polished, especially for just experimenting with new mediums. do u know what type of wood you used, i'm asking cause i just started playing with painting on wood with watercolors myself. excellent work!

Thank you. Yeah, this was birch... which is a pretty hard wood. I like it because the paints don't bleed like they do on pine, which is much softer. I'm currently trying Aspen... we'll see how it goes.

awesome! yeah i'm really not sure what the type was that i used, it's something i picked up from michaels and it didn't say on the label, but it could b either of the second two u mentioned cause it was super soft and pens bled big time. i look forward to seeing more of ur work, i could learn a thing er two. good luck on the aspen dude!

did the piece you bought have a cradled frame suspension built on the back?? I went to Michaels here looking for that & they looked at me like I was crazy. I have to build my own... it's really quite a pain. Try sanding it down with really fine sandpaper... it'll help to tighten the grain up a bit... not a huge difference, but better.

hmmm... i don't think so. i'm assuming not cause the back is plain. i liked it cause it was very vintage and natural looking. it was already prepped and sanded down, but i'll remeber that next time maybe it will help. thanks for the suggestion dude. here's the link dude, you can see what i'm talkin about [link]

Actually, I think the wood grain showing through the markers really adds to the piece! Gives it an earthy kind of texture and makes it look like a pretty wood stain!
Love the over all design as well!
Beautiful work!

Thank you for the support & the watch! Look forward to seeing you around.
The only thing remotely hard to get a hold of is the markers perhaps... those I ordered off of eBay awhile back. Ink, watercolors, woodstain... is all pretty common stuff no?

Yes. :3 but sharpies and prismacolor pencils (all of them) is not for sweden. xD

Thank you... about a week... just in my spare time. I work a full-time job, so I'm not able to draw as much as I'd like to, but I've been trying to do one painting a week lately. So far so good...

I don't know if "paid off" is the right term... but it's definitely worth it to me. I really enjoy creating this kind of stuff... feels like much more of an accomplishment than a digital piece.
