Description
a remake of a very, very old and hideous deviation of mine: browse.deviantart.com/?q=you+w…Mufasa: "Scar, it's your selfishness that's bringing this misery upon the PrideLands. It would all go away if you would just step down."
Scar: "I'm not going anywhere!"
Mufasa: "Then you have sentenced yourself to death!"
Scar: "I will not be threatened. I am the morning and the evening star. I am the King!"
Mufasa: "Scar...you bring this upon yourself."
yes, it's a dialogue referenced from The Prince Of Egypt. It's a thought, if Mufasa could appear as a ghost, you'd think he'd at least try and convince his brother to step down before sending Simba to overthrow him.

Well, it is one of the themes within this story.
Along with Hamlet and a few other stories all mixed into this one. So it wouldn't be surprising if it resembles the Bible in anyway,shape, or form.

I actually wrote a story like two Halloweens ago that was almost this exact concept: Scar went to the gorge one night and the ghost of his brother appeared to him. Like you, I figured he would at least try to give him a chance, despite all Scar has done, so in the story I had Mufasa offer to spare his life/spare him punishment if he steps down. However, as we know, Scar is proud and he chooses to keep the throne, and Mufasa curses him.
It was actually one of my better one-shots, I think.

This is so Prince of Egypt but nice work. This is properly before Mufasa went to go talk to Simba. Ya know to tell him to return to Pride rock.

It's not hard to imagine Mufasa's ghost being a continual conscience-prodding nuisance to Scar during his reign, which factors into his eventual insanity. This would be the "last chance before s*** happens to you" message Mufasa gives before the plan goes in motion. He doesn't say anything more to Scar until Scar is on trial by his ancestors and thus is in no position to sass him back anymore.

An interesting what-if, Ebony!
Although, during the Broadway version, Scar hears and sees Mufasa in EVERYTHING, during his reign! He becomes so convinced that his brother is haunting him, he becomes epically paranoid! (The lyrics to his paranoia scene can be found by viewing The Lion King Unofficial WWW Archive - The Madness of King Scar (lyrics)! The song clearly defines Scar's weird antics -- including his wanting to flirt with Nala!! )
Oh yeah, the tyrant was seriously climbing the walls, prior to Simba's return!!!

Oh yes! i've heard quite a lot about 'The Madness Of King Scar' I suppose this idea of mine could add to it a little
Man! i wish i had seen the broadway show when i had the chance! It wasn't in Melbourne for very long. I put it off, and put it off! then before i knew it, it was gone. Oh well, i can either go to Sydney when it returns there in December. Or i can take my chances that it may return to Melbourne. Either way, i'm gonna see that show if it kills me! :Nod:

Too right it would!
Defs save your pennies and go see it! (I couldn't recommend the show ENOUGH!!)
When I saw it in Melbourne, I paid $43 for a balcony seat; as I'd won the $100 tickets (yup, I won two $100 tickets), to have an aisle seat, in Sydney! That was back in April 2005 and then again, in March 2006; so no doubt the prices have gone up a bit, since then...) But it's worth seeing -- for these reasons, at least -
- The plotline is explored in depth;
- Characters are more defined: Scar's paranoia; Simba's and Nala's more rebellious and hardy natures, as young adults; a rather more humorous side to the snooty hornbill, Zazu...;
- Rafiki's sex-change! (Yup, he's a SHE, in the Broadway production! );
- The scene where Mufasa appears before an exiled Simba, before returning home, is EPIC! (No spoilers! But you've got to see it, to believe it! It's AWESOME!!
); and
- Some of the characters use scimitar-styled swords (which represent the lions' unsheathed claws), during certain scenes! Scar, however, is only armed with his spiky-as-an-echidna costume AND A GNARLED WALKING-STICK (because he's a prickly, twisted kind of guy)!!
Oh yeah, you've just gotta go see it!!

It makes sense but with the way he acted in the film when Simba came I would expect he would be a bit more freaked out .Still not willing to give up his goals but would be shaking with fear but trying to cover it with self confidence .That or it would possibly play like this
Scar:AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
MufasaA bit drowned out by the scream )Look Im not here to scare you! Im here to...
Scar:AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mufasah forget it.
With that said I like the idea(I just couldent resist the joke) .I also love the Prince of Egypt reference ! Great job

hehe, i knew someone would say something like that eventually. For arguments sake, let's say that Mufasa has appeared before Scar many times before, but Scar soon realised that there was nothing Mufasa could do about the situation. So when he came to him this time - naturally Scar wasn't afraid anymore, and was still an asshole

Ok.Really I only brought it up because I couldent resist making that joke.So by this time Scar would be a bit used to it and is more annoyed then scared? that makes sense.

This is actually awesome! And I love the Prince of Egypt dialogue. Do you mind if I start using this theory? I've developed a taste for both Lion King fanfics and adding little scenes to recasting of the Lion King and this scene is just too perfect.
