To start, great work! This is very cute! I see that you're trying out some art programs. Your gallery shows a lot of traditional work so I applaud you for trying something new in your art. If you're at all like me and have difficulty with traditional media I recommend continuing with your digital art pursuit. It's great for being able to render out your idea to it's fullest potential when you can't do so on paper or canvas. I can see what it is you're going for in this piece and so I have some pointers about how to improve on this. Of course practice is key so I need not say more on that subject. When practicing, however, I recommend doing some figure sketches using references for anatomy. In this piece the anatomy is hard to understand. Where is her neck? We should still be able to see it. Her eyes are bit far apart, her nose is confusing because of the way you decided to draw it, and her mouth is far too low so she doesn't have much of a chin. I can see that you're going for an anime style so I recommend looking up some anime eye style tutorials on DA and try some out ( www.deviantart.com/art/Manga-E… Here's a great one!). I'm familiar with that very boxy type of look but I never thought it translated well when colored. (however that's a matter of taste) You can never go wrong with trying new styles though so I highly recommend it! Plus it's lots of fun :] Now your colors are good but I feel like more could be done to convey that cute innocent look you're going for. I feel a nice pastel color palette would be perfect. She should be wearing something light in color instead of black. I would have liked to see more of her then just her head and arms so it wouldn't feel like she's floating in space. When adding blush to her cheeks, once again I know you're going for an anime look so for my suggestion I say make the color on her cheeks a very soft orange/pink. If you're going to add the blush marks I would make them stand out less so it doesn't seem as though she's got something weird on her cheeks and so that way the anime style can be properly conveyed but in a subtle manner.
