Simple composite of 2 photos: both taken on the same day at the RAF Waddington airshow a couple of months back.The chinook was involved in a display to show how versatile it is in combat, so it seemed appropriate to give it a nice dramatic background. Luckily, they also provided the pyrotechnics to do so.
