Ok life wasn't really spontaneously created...and like I said ALL the possible, negative stuff we have today, is from Eve being stupid enough to eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge. Adam was stupid enough Β to take the fruit from Eve and eat it too. They then noticed they were naked because sin had just entered into the world

That's a really dumb origin story. "Yo, guys, don't eat that Apple." "Okay." "Hey Adam, let's eat that Apple." "Okay."

Shit's really dumb and moral-less, like a lot of biblical stories, and the geological and fossil record shows us that the earth is way older than humanity too. It's also how we know what killed the dinosaurs, in the 60's, it was noticed that between (I think it was) the Cretaceous period and the tertiary period there was a layer of high-concentrate iridium. Iridium as a metal doesn't occur naturally in earth-like climates, but it does appear in space and asteroids. What do you think caused such a wide area to be coated in iridium?

Well, God doesn't want robots. He wants people to have choices. And Eve didn't just eat the apple becuase she didn't know the dif between right and wrong. Satan took the form of a snake, and deceived Eve and Eve deceived Adam.

like I said, I could say they same thing about your beliefs. They're dumb too.

*also if you haven't noticed, I'm not cursing or insulting you or your beliefs at all...I thought this was a friendly debate, not a flame war*

Let me rephrase "Dumb" to "Simple." It's a very simple origin for the world and everything, which gives it less credit for how complicated the universe actually is. I mean, if we had everything figured out 2000 years ago, why are we still asking questions and searching for answers? Why innovate, when all that matters is whether or not we've sinned? And the idea of us being sinners from birth only perpetuates slavery to an ideology. "You exist therefore you owe god tribute" sounds really circular, doesn't it?

God's mind is far beyond our own. When he wrote the bible...he like wrote it in simple talk. And still we cannot understand all of it.

You also have to remember that Christ died for you. It was a horrible..painful...slow death. But! He did it for you!
*and me...and for everyone that existed*
so that's why we don't give burnt offerings anymore. Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice....so you kind of owe him

Give me a sec. I'm going to go out, claim I'm the son of god, say a bunch of cryptic shit, and then commit seppuku. Surely self-disembowelment is more painful than crucifixion, right? So people will owe me, too, and worship me. Let's face it: Jesus Christ died because he didn't have the power to resist the Roman Soldiers. He was just a dude. I'm sure that sophist would've started charging admission until he heard about the court order for his crucifixion after he flipped his shit in a temple. Besides that, there's a whole lot of books written in omniscient third person about historical events; take away the author's name and are they written by god?

I'm going to kindly ask you again.
JESUS
ISΒ
NOT
A
DUDE

Even though Jesus was a human, he was perfect. He didn't sin, he didn't have sin, he was totally perfect. He didn't deserve to die, but he did. You on the other hand...you are a sinner, and you have no respect Β for anyone's belief except your own. SoΒ
NO people won't worship
NO humanity won't owe you

Jesus was A human, but was God at the same time. He could of called billions upon billions of angels to fight, and kill the Roman soldiers, but he didn't. If he didn't die, we couldn't go to heaven. We would all go to hell, and God's back would be turned on us...but since Jesus did die as the perfect sacrifice, we can go to heaven, and he can forgive us for all of the sins we have committed.

If you walked into your house, and saw a bunch of gamblers, and criminals selling, and conning people... I'm going to expect you to be calm and act like nothing is there.

pwnerj In reply to Rainbowcat123456 [2016-01-22 05:16:58 +0000 UTC]

I'd probably say something along the lines of "WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING IN MY HOUSE?!?!" The difference between me and Jesus is that I'd do the responsible thing and get the authorities instead of flipping my shit and then flipping their shit. You're saying a lot of "Could haves" but I'm yet to see any proof. Far as I know, the bible's a book with the world's largest and most obsessive, intrusive, and demanding fanclub ever. That, and a perfect dude doesn't murder a fig tree for no reason other than it didn't bear figs at the time, but look! Jesus, in the book of Matthew! Besides, it's the job of us Jacobs to wrestle with god at every turn, that's in the bible too, and to match him in strength. In the end, he was put onto a cross like the rest of them, and died a peasant with no actual contributions to society spare the massive mindfuck heard the world around. On a completely objective level, from the basest of observations of his actions, he was a man. I don't know what the fuck kind of guilt was dogma'd into you from childhood, I don't need to be saved. My intentions are my own, my actions are my own, and as far as I care, God's eye for judgement is in the eye of the beholder. That's how it was in catholicism before the renaissance, that's how it is now. I've yet to see a substantiated claim of supernatural occurrence that can't be explained by the scientific process, and neither did Leonardo Di Vinci. Or Galileo. Hell, there was the Christian Dark Ages and the Plague, and the Inquisition, and the Children's Crusade of 1212... Man, faith in god did a hell of a lot of evil shit and stopped a lot of human progress, and for all of the prayer I've done and my friends and family have done I've yet to see dick come to them, unless you count being shafted by society. There are so many contradictions in the Bible and so many different churches and sects, and so much crazy evil shit done in God's name that I hold no faith in it any longer. It's been soiled to me over and over, and has served me no purpose. If not even actions done in good intent or acts of virtue are good enough and instead only devoted worship and dick-sucking (Literally, in the case of Choir Boys in the catholic church) is the path to enlightenment, then I'd be glad to go to hell. With all of the scientists, great minds, and virtuous pagans there compared to the plague victims and the ignorant, the racist and the sexist that must reside in heaven, because I know I'll end up in hell anyways for eating crab or lobster (Leviticus 11:10) or not fucking chopping off the hands of the woman who punched me in the dick!

I'm sorry to get so worked up, but I don't see it. I had faith and I still didn't see it. I'm sorry if I come off as cross or angry, and at this point you might accuse me of being a heathen or "Abandoning the cause" or whatever, but when you read Exodus 22:18, you'll stop worshipping the magic man, lest you too go to hell.

Because no merciful God would ever cause not even wish for the gates of those who I've learned about in history, and I've learned that technological achievement has saved more people than faith has. (My point? Bubonic plague. No God that I would ever have faith in would dare allow such sickness to spread among his followers in a church, leaving those crying his name in hopes to rot with festering buboes while those avariced rich and the sorrowful intelligent survived. One THIRD of the European population, right before the Renaissance, when Christian and Catholic faith were at their highest.)

Chemical reactions between amino acids forming basic proteins which lead to the generation of the first life? As in, not humans, nor monkeys, nor multi-cellular organisms, but arrangements of amino acids which eventually became basic bacteria due to random chance? I mean, you give a planet several trillion years of being hot and wet and electrically charged, and you will eventually get enough amino acids formations to randomly generate basic lifeforms.

Actually, that process has been determined too, and we've found species with structures at every step. It started out as a light-sensitive patch, then that patch gained a dip in it, so that they could tell where light was coming from. Eventually it would form into a pinhole for precision in determining where light and dark spots are and... You know what, let me let you in on a video that explains this so that I don't have to.Β www.youtube.com/watch?v=KP3AY0… And I found this after I wrote the explanation I gave you.

And if you mean that God gave us eyes so that we may fully experience life, then why, compared to other creatures, do our eyes suck at seeing? The rainbow mantis shrimp has eyes with about 16 rods, meaning they can see 13 more base colors than we can. Surely that means that we cannot, no matter how hard we try, see this world's beauty in full? What god builds a creature to rule a world that cannot fully appreciate it?

God made each creature different, for a different purpose.

No other living organism has as much reasoning and intelligence as much as we do. If we didn't have that..and instead had 50 trillion rods...the world would be different in a bad way.

But since we do have the intelligence to have dominion over the earth, we are fit for the job!
