While I was at school I brought along a few of my comic books and one of them just so happened to be Phantom Stranger vol 2 #17.
It was the first issue to introduce Cassandra Craft, a blind psychic. As you can see in the sketches above, I ship them. It kinda broke my heart when he left her at the end of the issue, all dramatic and whatnot, but hey, that's comics for you.

Have you read the New 52 Stranger stuff? I feel like they could've done more with his relationship with Cass, they kinda just left it hanging!!! I recently read these earlier volumes and their relationship is just so cute, so pure!!! Cass takes no ones crap yet she's just so GOOD for Stranger?! Ahhh!!! AHHH!!!!

Phantom Stranger you come back and take your wife on adventures and shit, she is the only one who understands you my bro and she would follow you to the ends of time and space for you if she could
I just need a whole comic line dedicated to these two and my life would be complete!! Why must they be too obscure for the comic reading public?????? Why does no one know about these two????????

The new-52 Stranger is more coherent plotwise, but I feel like they totally butcher his character sometimes! Like, they make him so arrogant and aggressive sometimes, it just doesn't feel like the same cool-headed and just guy, you know??? I think they left it hanging because Stranger had other stuff going on with other women so it was like. Blah!! Totally lame!!!
Honestly, I would write, draw, and publish it myself if I had the funds and the motivation. Bwahaha! Those two really are important. I just want Stranger to be loved and cared for on his adventures, I feel like he forgets sometimes that not everybody is out to get his head!Β
And about the too-obscure part, I KNOW RIGHT! It had it's pros and cons -- I mean, all the stuff I've bought for him has been super cheap on clearance, hehe! -- but like, nobody has heard of him aside from Trinity War and other stuff that doesn't really even involve him? It kills me!!!!Β

Totally lame indeed!! I guess I wouldn't like the New 52 Phantom Stranger as much, inconsistent writing of a character is just not something that i'm a fan of, nor am I a fan of characters that are arrogant because arrogance is just annoying lol But i'll catch up nonetheless since it's still Phantom Stranger and he's at least getting some recognition in the newer comics, so that's at least something c:Β
Lol I would do the same too, but i'll just make more art for them instead and see if it'll get other people interested in the characters!! They just have one of the sweetest relationships in the whole DC universe and that should at least be recognized, plus what's not to like about Phantom Stranger??? He's got a really cool outfit, he can travel through dimensions and time, and he deals with all sorts of paranormal stuff that makes for some interesting stories to say the least! And not to mention that Cass is blind, and she's a psychic and she's capable of doing anything without people pitying her! The two of them make for such interesting characters, and yet no one takes advantage of that and takes the risk to put them out on display for everyone to see!! They both just deserve better!

I'm glad Batman: The Brave and the Bold gave Phantom Stranger an episode to be in, even if it was just one, and it ended up being the best episode in that show's entire run!! It was great! Plus Spectre was in there too, so there's that!!
Also, I think one of my favorite Phantom Stranger moments has to be from one of the Justice League Unlimited comics where he tries to help the Flash understand Batman more by showing him all of the Christmases Batman had spent in the past with and without his parents, it was just so sad, and so cute at the same time!!

The art alone makes it worth it, honestly! Not to mention his relationship with Dr. Thirteen is precious, those two are so important to me. Also the arc in which Stranger is married to, well, someone who is essentially a stranger (how ironic!) to his life, really builds his character I think. It's very interesting. Let's discuss when you read it, I wanna know everything you think! 8)
Definitely! I did a short Stranger webcomic once upon a time and never finished it, but it got a few people interested in him because I just draw him SO MUCH! Β
And right?!?? A beautiful disabled woman and a handsome POC man -- how diverse, how interesting, how lovely can you get? I feel like sometimes women that are interested in Stranger really get swept up in the mystery and the vagueness of Stranger's words and lifestyle. But Cassandra is just like "Just tell me your name???? Just tell me what you're doing here??? No I will not stay at home I'm not a precious little flower that needs to be protected, I want to be by your side???" and I feel like that's really important not only for the diversity of the characters but also for Stranger, as a character, to have that kind of consistency in his life??? AHHH!
OMG CHILL OF THE NIGHT IS SO GOOD! I think Kevin Conroy did a good job with Stranger, and that episode was SO DEEP AND WONDERFUL! I've got my fingers crossed for a Stranger-centric episode in the new DC series that's coming, Justice League Action, since in the trailer alone there's a little bit more obscure characters like Lobo and Etrigan -- so why not Stranger, right?
GOSH, YES. Although I do feel like Stranger should have a little bit more purpose in stories than to just serve as narration (which is a pro of the new-52 series), moments like that are always so special! My favorite Stranger moments are his interactions with Hal Jordan's niece in Spectre #11 and #12, like -- STRANGER IS SO GOOD WITH KIDS!

YEEESSS EXACTLY!! Agggghh why can't the comic writers understand the potential of these two?? (totally agree with you about Stranger needing consistency in his life, he deserves to be happy, and to have friends and love, among other things)
I KNOW RIGHT?!!! EEEEEE I JUST LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!!!! I was totally not expecting it after all the campy goodness that preceded it! And yes, Kevin Conroy did do a good job as Phantom Stranger! I just wished that they had more episodes with him in it 
Also a Justice League Dark movie is in the works, so maybe if we're lucky, they might pick him as one of the members - just to see him in live-action would make all my dreams come true!

Right?! I feel like DC caters so much to what will make them money that they don't consider all the potential that has gone down the drain with their obscurer characters. You never know what could be a diamond in the rough, but instead they're making more and more Batman stuff (i love Batman but like come on DC) and its just! So frustrating!Β
And that's true 8') All I'm sayin' is that if you can make a character like Batmite-- BATMITE, FOR GOODNESS' SAKE!-- a reoccurring character on MANY DIFFERENT SHOWS (who, arguably, often has a kinda similar role in the content hes in) then you sure as heck can you Stranger, a guy whose design is more interesting, whose personality and backstory are both vast, and who is 100% less obnoxious??? I dk im DEAD INSIDE OVER THIS,
Im like, both psyched and not psyched for the JLD movie?!!? I mean i was SUPER PSYCHED when the trailer was released, but now Im a little nervous. Not only because Im not very fond of the art style (I feel like none of them really LOOK like themselves except maybe Deadman and Swamp Thing?) but I just feel like the plot is gonna be... idk... boring maybe. Oh lol I was talking about the DCEU movie that's coming in a few years, but yeah, the animated movie trailer for that matter I agree with you. I'm more optimistic about the art style but maybe that's because it has that Young Justice feel to it, and I just miss Young Justice, but yeah some of the character designs are more than a bit iffy (well besides the ones you mentioned, and at least Constantine for me. And also Jason, but they could've made him a bit more attractive) the plot doesn't seem all that interesting, and the villain doesn't seem so either. BUT OMG I JUST CHECKED AND STRANGER WILL BE IN THE MOVIE SO YAS

LIKE.... I LOVE BATMAN SO MUCH (says the kid wearing a batman shirt and bracelet drinking out of a batman mug atm) BUT LIKE.... if you beat a character to death, they really do become less of a character and more like a vague symbol of a character. It's really hard to flesh out and make interesting a character that has been beaten to death. That's why I really feel like DC needs to give their obscurer characters a chance because a lot of people are just so BORED ATM....Β

They made Jason too beefy for my liking. I've always seen him as like, a sleek, slightly round-faced gentleman with gentle eyes and nice cheekbones, you know? I feel like the whole broad-shouldered square-faced approach with him doesn't fit his p rsonality at all.
