Description A tree in my sideyard that's been dead for ages (it explodes into dust when you pick it up) fell over just today. --Thank God it didn't fall on the house!

It wasn't the one with the smooth white wood under it's peeling bark was it? (The picture is to wet for me to tell.) I loved that tree just as I love my own skeleton trees.

my mom and I were thinking that since it's dead and no one wants it for wood, we could shape it up and leave it there

No, considering it fell away from our house, and the wind was blowing the other way...actually, I think it was a NORTH WIND.
What's odd is that it's a TREE, and I didn't hear it fall.

First you mean The North Wind not a north wind. About the Tree, are you sure you didn't hear it? Maby you did and it didn't sound like you thought it would. Then you might have mistaken it for a different noise. Or perhaps you were asleep. You can't really be saying that Jake was right about the tree falling in the woods with no one to hear it and it not making a noise are you? And I never believed him, or at least I didn't get involved.

I was awake, on the computer, replying to your messages - my dad was asleep, in his room, and he heard it. But Simon was asleep right next to the window and he didn't hear a thing..
