Description
This is a special person in my life. His favorite color is green. His favorite sport is soccer, and his favorite music is found on the Guitar Hero games. Like a lot of kids, he goes to school, and his favorite subject is reading. He loves swimming, computer games, and eating. He likes to dress up as Spider Man for Halloween, and wishes he could be Spider Man in real life. He has his own likes, dislikes, talents, and quirks. He breathes air, his heart beats, his mind thinks, and he has feelings. Oh yeah, by the way, he has autism, but really heβs just another human like you and me, and loves to be treated as one."If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away." - Henry David Thoreau
Faves, features, comments, and watches are always welcome and extremely appreciated. Thank you for any support in advance (although I will try to thank you personally, sometimes life gets in the way)! If you use this picture, please send a link!
Update: To answer a frequent question I'm seeing: Yes, I am sharing with him his feedback, and no, he didn't technically write the text himself, but he did to the best of his ability, so he deserves the credit. In my opinion, yes he wrote it and deserves the credit because he did his very best and that's all anyone can do.

I am working twoards being a special education professor K-12. This is really cool to me that you have this great message in the photo! It goes to show that even though he may not communicate in the exact same way, that he still has a lot in common with "normal" children. To me "normal" is just a cycle on the washing machine. Everyone is different and his differences and strengths just sometimes stand out a little more. He has feelings of happiness, joy, and sadness too-just like everyone else. This is really touching to me. Thank you so much for putting this on here!

I am working with Autistic kids as co-op job at my school. I want to be a learning support teacher and work with kids like this young boy. Everday when I walk into that room I want to cry. "HELLO MISS ALLI" is what I hear. They give me hugs and sometimes I recieve kisses too. I feel so LOVED in that room. They don't judge me because I too have a learning problem- heavens no!!! They accept me and they treat me like THEY want to be treated. At the end of this year, I'm going to cry, I've grown to love these kids as if they where my own and to my friends I actually call them "My kids". So what if they have Autisim? They are some of the SWEETIST kids I HAVE EVER MEET! I love this picture because it not ONLY tells what I all Autsim kids think but ALL people. He's adorablely cute and I imagine he's very sweet. Working with Autistic kids has changed my life. I often take for granted how amazing life is. Their life is hard but they still manage to love every single minute of it and they are always SO happy. It's rare to see one sad about life. Autisim is so common now, and it doesn't make the childs who have it any less HUMAN. They are HUMAN actually I believe they are more human, then some of us. They display their emotions so all can understand, they make it clear most of the time what they want, even if some can't speak. I for one know that I don't ask all I need to ask, or say all I need to say. But I can't descirbe how amazing this picture is...simply amazing.

Thanks.
Seriously, we need to have people know about this sort of thing. I'm autistic too. I suck at maths, I suck at Physics, Chemistry, PE and Bus-Man.
I'm still a human being.

Go Autistic peepz! I have Asperger Syndrome, but I'm much alike other people. I spend most my time playing Fire Emblem games and listening to techno music. I go to school and my best class is third period Science and Biology. Although I have friend issues, I still survive!

This also really touched me, and made my day.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who isn't making fun of people because of a disability or something like that.
I don't like it when people are making fun of someone just because of how they act, I mean some people can't help it and are probably born with it.
Like this one time at my school, a girl didn't even want to look at this person with a disability because they were being really messy with their food. So she tried to prevent from seeing that person.
I would've gone to that person if I was allowed but since I'm so seriously shy(and can't go up to someone at school because of my shyness) and I couldn't find the person she was talking about, I just sat there mad at that girl.

What a cute boy ^^
He's like a kid that feel like continue his life and find a lot of things of this life.
It's incredible how people like him are happy dispite of the illness.
I bet he is a good example for people who wants to suicide being lucky and healthy people. This boy isn't full healthy, but he is happy and he wants to live.
Nothing left to say.
The most beatiful picture I've seen on DA. It made me cry.

Thank you so very, very much for this. I have Asperger's Syndrome (a "mild" form of autism) and I've put up with more stupid bullshit from closed-minded idiots in my life than any human being ever ought to. The schools and other kids when I was younger were nothing short of cruel, ignorant and apathetic. People still tend to treat me like I'm not even human when they learn I have autism. I've had numerous DOCTORS and PSYCHIATRISTS completely ignore me because of this. This couldn't sum up how I feel any better. I truly wish your young friend there the best.

Just because we are born with mental-illnesses doesn't mean we're not human.
I have A.D.D SO WHAT! I felt like I was a freak because it's rare and not everyone has it. But I realized just because I have A.D.D doesn't mean everyone will hate me, it's just means I'm a little diffrent. But you know what?! Doctors say that people that have A.D.D or A.D.H.D have the most advanced minds because we prcoess things faster.

Exactly, so what? No matter what illness you may have you're still human and still have feelings just like everyone else. I don't see why people are stupid enough to see this any differently.

This is a really touching picture and the message below was very sweet. My little brother has autism and he still gets children in his own year treating him badly, so this picture has really touched my heart. Autism shouldn't be something that's brushed under the carpet, everyone should be aware of it and understand that it doesn't make anyone inferior and that people with autism should be treated just like everybody else.
