it's been a good while since I last posted botanical sketches. here, 7 species native to the subantarctic forests, where I live. 4 of them are specifically from the Valdivian rainforest, the rainiest district within this formation.
edited, added the names to the image. I have them all herborized, and I often visit the relatively little part of the of Valdivian rainforest that reaches Argentina, and three of these species (L. apiculata, P. mucronata and B. globosa) are extremely common around and in my town. Gevuina avellana is a valdivian species, but it is found in small number in drier areas too (I collected my own sample in Chapelco Chico, a hill that's closer to the steppe than my town)

with W. thrichosperma, there's a story behind the very ifferent leaves. the thinnest leaf is the first one I drew. then I checked my herbarium and I noticed the leaves I have herborized were wider, so I drew the second in width one. and closed my herbarium. them looked OTI for the color (as my sample darkened alot) and directly referenced a leaf when they seemed... considerably fatter than my sample.
on an important note, these were drawn without any reference, except for the best drawn leaf of W. trichosperma, which was referenced. so, they are kinda off.
the light green organs in Gevuina avelana are not its flowers, but leaves. this tree's leaves has a bizarre trimorphism (though the less obvious ones were drawn sloppily by me, I really reccomend looking for an image )
also the fruit of L. apiculata (a round black berry) and P. mucronata are effin delicious. waiting for them to madurate (around April) as both shrubs still have flowers.

so yeah, Agu plants C:. hope you like them!

and to anyone who wants, show me some of *your* trees! I draw mine, because that's what I see. but there are so many amazing plants all around the globe.
