For last week and the one before that, as I've fallen behind in uploading; so I'm gonna be needing another one for this week.

Two Hawaiian birds that are sadly most likely extinct at this point: ʻōʻū (Psittirostra psittacea)- last seen in 1989- and Po`ouli (Melamprosops phaeosoma), whose last known individual died in 2004, species was declared extinct in 2018. The moslt likely cause of their steep decline being aviar malaria, transmitted by introduced mosquitoes, as well as habitat destruction, both by human activity and introduced feral pigs. Hawaiian honeycreepers are some of the most endangered birds in the world.
