As you cling to the final moments of September,
I’ll take hold of the breeze in the sky as tree branches
suffer seizures around me. As I watch their children and nieces and nephews float
gently to the concrete like dead irony, I’ll smile and laugh with myself.
Oh, what beautiful colors.

When I feel your presence or suspect a poltergeist cut-out I’ll
shave off my corneas and wallow in the wonders of black-and-white T.V sets.
I’ll make my mouth dance to the sound of your frown and
your dirty nails and your kidnapped smile until your smile is all that remains.
