Mount Aspiring National Park. I was lucky enough to travel through this area as a child, on one of the only road trips I've ever been on. Aart's contest asked us to depict our characters in a National Park of our choosing, one that brought us comfort, and to draw those characters in a peaceful state. As a kid, I was pretty much anything but peaceful; I grew up running around paddocks with a big wizard stick in my hand, doodles of maps and characters in the other arm. Mt. Aspiring is the filming location for 'Isengard' in the Lord of the Rings films, a trilogy that you really can't escape here in NZ. Fantasy films and the whole idea of magic and epic adventure just really, really excited me, and so that's what my entry is about. There's something so comforting to look back on those memories. I'm not a huge fan of scorching hot weather, but the mountains are very very cold, and we were so blessed as to have fairly warm days when we were visiting here. Being cold is the most uncomfortable state :'D

As for the character; Kabab is the embodiment of my huge childhood obsession with dinosaurs. I love dinosaurs, and parasaurolophus in particular. Dinotopia on repeat, figures on my shelf, m a s s i v e obsession with a video game where you could collect dinosaur eggs as a parasaur named Ralph. (Here's a clip: youtu.be/JmEBA833b3k?t=108 )

I hope that one day, I can go back here and explore this region, go on a hike up the trails, spend a few days just wandering.
