Description Wanted to devote this one to my favourite horse in all time,
a welshpony called Pentagoon.

I heard that he passed away a while ago, 31 years old.

I could go on and on with talking about him, I've never met such a horse before, and there was a time when I was nearly obsessed by him.
I have quite of a story about him
I still feel the same joy as I felt back then.
Can't say I feel too sad, since I know that he lived an incredibly happy life until his death.

Of course, none of my artwork will ever make him justice, but I still wanted to devote something, and at least give a small glimpse of the heaven I hope that he went to.

Enjoy people.

This really is stunning...the image is so peaceful and beautiful, I can truly see all the emotions you attempted to portray in this. Fantastic, and a wonderful memorial.

This is almost dreamlike in a way! I think the composition is lovely, and really I just like everything about it. It strikes a particular chord with me because I lost the first horse I knew this past summer-- a grey gelding aged 30, so I see lots of similarities between the two of them. Perhaps I should paint a tribute to him...

Thank you!
Awwe, I'm very sorry about your loss Hopefully, he lived a long and happy life. That's always a comfort

Yes, you should definitely do that! It feels good afterwards and you'll do your best to create something nice for someone very special

You're quite welcome! And yes, he lived a very full life. Towards the end he started going downhill pretty quickly, and we knew it was time.. I got to say goodbye, which was incredibly hard, but I'm so glad I was able to.

Whenever I get a spare moment I certainly will! You have inspired me.

Simply beautiful. Very well done.

I must say though that that pony's right front foot looks a little deformed somehow, but hey, who cares. It's a wonderful manip.

Thanks for the comment! I'll take a look and have that in mind in the future.
It's not a manip though, it's entirely painted

Oh I bet he has
The owner treated him as a prince during his last years as a retired riding school-pony.
I don't feel so sad for him really, instead I'm glad that I got the chance to learn to know him during my younger years.

Thank you for your kind words!

I'm sorry, and I know whats its like to loose a friend, my horse, Rawhide had to be euthinized at age 37 because....well, you can look at a pic. of him in my gallery, there will be a description on how and why he had to be put down (and it all could have been prevented, which is the worst part.)

The drawing and description remind me of Merrylegs, a wonderful character in Anna Swell book Black Beauty.

That's one pretty good painting, I like your natural tones and how you made his mane glow in the sunlight. That definitely looks very effectful
If I may critique, though, I do feel like the horse is somewhat too big in this picture. I am not entirely sure, as there are not many reference objects, but the scale bothers me a little.
I also think that you could balance the piece out a little by adding some rocks and stones in the left forground, and giving the image a little bit of a midground behind the horse, just to give it more depth and lead the eye around more Little stones would also give you the chance to tie in the grass more, by having it come out from under the stones.
And lastly, your far background mountain has a clearer and more definite edge than the two tall rocks on the left, although they seem closer, that throws off your depth a little. Just redefine their edge a little, and you should be good.

I certainly hope you don't mind my critiques, the painting already looks good in any case
Daniel

That's just enchanting. It makes me think of... Iceland. Yes Iceland. Not that I have ever been to Iceland, but my imaginary picture of Iceland corresponds to that.

Beautiful work!

Yeah, well, it's almost a unicorn.
A bit funny, cause we used to call him that actually, back when he was alive
I guess there's an invisible horn in the pic as well..
