Description
These are the basics (and some seldom known details) on how the core looks and works. Thanks for everyone who looked at my previous tutorials. I have something very interesting planned for the next tone too.
p.S. The core is a sexy thing whether it's muscular, or not. When I'm done detailing the parts of the body, I'm going to cover different body types, gestures, character work etc...
Please keep checking in. We have a lot to go over

This is disturbingly beautiful... or would that be beautifully disturbing? I can't tell, TBH But I must fave it for prosperity.

It originally wasn't, but a viewer or two, I'm not sure, said some sensitive stuff earlier in the comments and DA told me they were going to tag it just in case. They said they saw nothing wrong with the piece itself and were just doing it for the sake of keeping things chill, which is perfectly fine on my end. I don't mind a bit.
--> Thanks for asking

I figured it was difficult to draw and showed what the body can do. This part of the body has a huge range of motion.

Once you know how everything works, you can simplify it into a style. You have to understand anatomy in order to break it properly.

Type in Écorché in google. It's an art form I favored awhile back that focuses on the skinless body. Helps if your doing zombies, or anything macabre.

These are absolutely fantastic. You must be a medical professional (in my mind anyway) as well as an amazing artist. I'm one of those people that go to a physiotherapist and say "I have a pain and I think it's in my (eg) gluteus maximus" and I have thoroughly researched it on Dr Google before I go Your tutorial is going to help my inquisitive mind, thank you so much!

lol. No I'm no doctor. I read a lot of books, took a lot of life drawing, and worked in a morgue. Yeah, that last one gave me a lot of time to look at the body closely.

Wow, that's fascinating. And obviously has been excellent for your own learning, which you are now so generously sharing. I think perhaps morgues are a lot more 'acceptable' now, with all the police dramas on TV, but I'm positive they glorify them somewhat and I don't think I'd be comfortable there. Not even with my fascination for knowledge about simply everything. I think it's wonderful that you've taken the opportunities set before you to learn all you can, and transfer it to your amazing art. But even more, congratulations on applying your intelligence to use the knowledge well. I really respect that

yeah man :> totally! Thank you!
man looking through your gallery, you are like a super hardcore anatomy study. do you take classes?

Nova-MadArt In reply to WalkingMelonsAAA [2014-03-26 00:42:18 +0000 UTC]
Not anymore. I took some classes before, but it mostly came from books, life drawing classes, and I used to work in a morgue. it let me look long and hard at anatomy for the details.

This is awesome! Thank you. It is easier to think about these things when they're made into simple shapes, but some things are so complex it's hard to even choose which things to turn into what shapes.
As for the female torso though: I think it's worth noting that the hourglass shape is partly created by fat distribution, and that the shape of the actual muscles is a bit more similar to the male shape than it may seem.

Nova-MadArt In reply to nk-chan [2014-03-23 21:54:55 +0000 UTC]
no problem. yeah, the fat distribution has a lot to do with it. I was just covering the hard surfaces this time around (and morphed the volumes a bit to match the comic female form [shhhhhh...])

Most tutorials like to illustrate skinless figures for the sake of explaining anatomy. But as I've been watching Attack On Titan a lot lately I can only think see it "HOW TO DRAW TITANS"

True. That's an anatomically intense figure to say the least.
