Before landing the job at the Daily Planet, Clark worked as a shelf-stacker in a supermarket and a firefighter.

In his earlier years as Superman, Clark sported his natural golden-blonde hair on the open while, in his secret identity, used a wig to mask it.

During a time, Clark had an ability known as "the Solar Flare", an evolution of his heat-vision which drained him of his solar radiation by exuding it in the form of an explosion. However, by doing this, he began to become less powerful, eventually losing his golden locks in exchange for a more natural brown hair.

Both the inner circle of the Daily Planet Staff as well as most of Smallville know Clark's secret identity.

Early on in his public career, Superman made it very clear to the US government that he would absolutely not be available for use as a weapon: he cooperates in any rescue/disaster relief operations brought to his attention, but makes a conscious effort to avoid politics.

Clark and Bruce make it a point for Halloween to dress-up as each-other, be it by switching costumes or getting cheap versions of them.

The only funding Clark gets is via a group of foundations in Metropolis, mainly those under STAR Labs, whom primarily develop most of the gear he uses in battle.
