Thank you so much!! You honor me
Sorry to not be around here much lately, but real life has been demanding my attention. I should put something in my journal - folks are starting to wonder.... But, as you know I have teens, so there are blocks of time that I must devote to them. Those darn kids!
Thanks again for the support - it means so much coming from a great artist like you.

you must have kissed the blarney stone very recently and i do know just how demanding teens are
such high maintenance they could use their own maid

"Ruby"
Let it never be said
The Romance is dead
'Cause there's so little else
Occupying my head
There is nothing I need
except the function to breathe
But I'm not really fussed
Doesn't matter to me
Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby
Do you, do you, do you, do you
Know what you're doing, doing, to me
Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby
Due to lack of interest
Tomorrow is canceled
Let the clocks be reset
And the pendulums held
'Cause there's nothing at all
Except the space in-between
Finding out what you're called
And repeating your name
Could it be, could it be
That you're joking with me?
And you don't really see you and me
The above was my inspiration for the title.
Thanks so much for the fave - I am very happy to hear from you. I've been thinking about you a lot lately - you OK? I've not had a chance to be here the last couple of days... Seems if I don't touch base with you for a week or more, something's in my life.

I guess I have been a bot absent from this place lately. There are of course a number of reasons why. Work and home stuff keeping me busy. But I'm also going through one of those patches where I do not feel very inspired or motivated and this site serves to remind me of that and make me feel guilty that I have all this camera equipment sitting around doing nothing.
I'm sure my inspiration will come back to me in time. This is a common occurence for me.
How are you though? That last hummingbird shot really was something quite incredible. You must have waited ages for that to come into frame.

I understand the inspiration issue - I go through it frequently myself. A good friend has explained this phenomenon as my need to "rest and refuel" - funny that he seems to understand better than I the amount of energy it takes to be creative and the extreme need for downtime. So - don't feel guilty (isn't it great that I can tell you what to feel?? ), just rest and do something incredibly boring... you'll be back eventually.
I'm doing OK - some days better than others. Family is fine, but they keep me too busy - I imagine what I could do if all the energy I put into my family went into my arts - wow - that would be great! But then, I'd be alone... but then I think that would be great!
The male hummer has been around a lot lately and he is incredibly beautiful. I need the light of the afternoon to get a good shot, but he likes to come round in the mornings and late in the afternoon, when I have crappy light. It truly is a waiting game... Today I am trying something new - I have my camera on a tripod facing out the window so that when he comes he won't see me raise the camera off my desk and scare him away. But the drawback is that I cannot move the camera as freely, so I'm not sure this will have a payoff. The other drawback to shooting these guys is that I cannot focus on my other work cuz I keep watching for him. Every movement out the window takes my attention away from what I need to get done. It has taken about a week to balance my checkbook! (And no wise cracks about my math skills)
BTW - We are going to see the live filming of Austin City Limits tonight - do you know of this show? We just had the ACL Fest here over the weekend and some of the bands are staying over to do local shows. Tonight I will see Bloc Party and I'm not sure who else... Do you know of Bloc Party? I don't - any info would be great. I fear I'm in for a long evening with my hubby as he is a jazz and blues kinda guy. Somehow I am fairly certain Bloc Party is not gonna sing the blues....
OK - back to work. Good to know you are out there and doing OK. Talk to you soon.

Bloc Party are very good. The are one of those few bands that really know how to play live. The singer also has a voice that doesn't seem to belong to him. It will be interesting to see what you think
You take care as well hon

Shear determination - I wanted it so badly that I found a way. You have no idea the grin that was on my face when I uploaded this shot - it really is thrilling to get the shot you dream of. (I should probably get a life, huh...) Thank you for the compliments and the support you give me - it means a lot. I don't get it at home.

Looks to me like you have a pretty fine life. Accomplish a goal, that's pretty good. You did a good job with it too. I know the feeling when you find a great shot that came out just as you had hoped. Keep up the good work. I also know what you mean about the home front, I get pretty much the same, although I do have one sister who really likes my photos. Most of my fans are on DA or friends at work. You know something, they are almost all women too. I must do work that appeals to women, eh? lol. I should be so lucky.

Thanks for the compliment and for the fave. Always appreciated! I met a guy at the Wildflower Center this morning that told me if I have one hummer coming to the feeder, that means there are 3 or 4 more hiding out there... I guess I might get some different ones soon - that would be so cool!

Can't wait to see more photos, if there are more hummers of course!
I don't understand a lot of these, but is there a chance that two of them go to the feeder at the same time? It would be a great photo!

I've never seen two at the same time, but I know it happens because I saw it before when I was camping in Colorado. I'm thinking it's too late in the season - they are migrating now and perhaps their behavior changes... I need to do some research - they are so fascinating to watch.
Thanks for fave - I may have one more to post and then it will be time to do something else (unless I get one that just has to be here! lol)
