I would love to see how this began. Do you use any kind of gridding when you start to get your initial form? Just wondering. I do realism too, and I think this rocks. What weight of paper do you use, and what type of pencils? Just wondering.

first I start with a black and white image for the original. I make two copies. I put a grid on one (usually .5 inch X .5 inch), the other is for shading reference. I then on a piece of Bristol board ( can be purchased at any art store) i make a grid on third larger, just depends on the size of the image. I draw an outline. I then shade the nose/mouth. I do the eyes last. i use a stub to blend the shading. then i touch it up. I have to erase finger prints from white parts and darken black areas. I use mechanical pencil for the most part (shade in a circular motion) but use 8 or 6 H for the darker shadows.

Wow! That's how I do it, but I use a giant art pad. LOL I do gridding though. I use color pictures if I have them for shading too. Black and white shading can sometimes look harsher than I want it. I love your work though, and thank you very much for answering my question. I appreciate it.

wow. amazing. of all jrockers that i tried to draw i think gackt is the most dificult one. maybe because his "oh, so his" features
