Jade
Scar
Jade shifted in her nest as she watched the snow outside the barn gently falling to the floor, slowly building up in a white, delicate sheet on the ground. "Its so quiet... so peaceful..." Jade thought as she pulled at the straw around her. "And I hate it..." She pushed herself up, looking over at her sleeping mate and kits.
This was not the life she had thought she would live... this isn't what she wanted to live.. No she was supposed to be doing something else, not settling down here in a barn with a family.
"You know exactly where that is too..." She reminded herself, looking out the window in the direction she knew was 'home'. "Out there.. in that old fox den that she used to train beside with that grumpy old one-eyed rouge and his 'son'. Thats where you belong..." She breathed, jumping up on the windowsill, looking out across the snow. "Training.. fighting... surviving like that.. not this simplistic life you're living now.. it's not yours... not meant for you..." She looked back at her family. "But I can't just leave either..." She sighed, shoulders falling slightly as she jumped back down and walked back to her nest. "Why won't you just come back for me...?" She thought as she closed her eyes.
Scar eyed the the large abandoned structure just a few tree lengths away from him. There was a lump in his throat as each pawstep Scar took to get closer to it. Each step Scar realized he was shaking slightly more and more and the lump in his throat grew larger. The cat he was coming for was in that barn, he knew it because of the scent that he knew so much. The young rogue had to lie to Coal that he was out for a walk, not to go 'save' the she-cat that had a mate and kits.
Their last encounter was something Scar could never forget, seeing the other she-cat was something almost refreshing for him to see. Yet he was left baffled on Jade's words and yet here he was a few days later. "Well, it's now or never..." Scar gulped, as he padded his way over to the structure.
Jade was just moving to lay back down when she caught the scent. Oh god that scent.. she knew it to well. She had to move slowly, she couldn't wake Volkner or the kits, and slowly made her way to the hole in the barn, sliding out into the cold snowy air. She lifted her head, gritting her teeth. She couldn't find the scent now.. Maybe she had just imagined it.. "No.. Hes here.. he has to be..."She sighed, tail flicking, and headed out into the snow, peering through the dark with her good eye. "Scar.." She breathed into the night air, pausing to look around. "Where are you..?" She bounded a few feet farther. "Come out.."
Scar felt his heart beat faster and faster for each step he took closer to the barn. He got to the point where the tom could smell the she-cat's scent and dear god did it bring him back to when they first reunited. Scar shiver slightly at that memory, for it was the one that made him come to this barn in the first place. But he hated this territory with a passion, the scent was mixed with another, her mate apparently. Did Jade even remember that? What if she was just joking around about coming to save her? Those questions rushed into his mind before he was dragged out by the familiar voice of the cat he came looking for.
It was dark, but the moon provided a small light that outlined on the she-cat's figure. And so the tom took a step forward into the light, revealing himself. "Hey Jade.."
"Scar.." The name rolled off her tongue and she shot forward, her paws carrying her across the snow as she raced towards him, springing at him when she got within reach just like she had last time they had spoken, only this time her intention was not to kill. She tumbled into the snow with him, pressing her muzzle deep into his fur. This was a nature of the she cat that no one had ever seen before, and it was quite the sight. She was holding him down, pinning him to the snowy ground with her muzzle buried in his fur, taking in his warm, familiar, comforting scent. "Scar.." She repeated, closing her eyes tightly. "You came.. you really came I-.." She choked softly, cutting off. "I didn't think you would..." She admitted softly, sighing into his shoulder as she moved back, stepping off of him and looking away, quite embarrassed in her display. "I.. I don't even know what to say..."
Scar's eyes widen when he saw the she-cat sprint towards him. 'Oh god she's going to kill me.' He grimaced, shutting his eyes to stop from seeing Jade raise her claws up and crazed expression. Instead of feeling any pain, the tom feel himself get tackled down onto the snowy ground. Before he could even comprehend what was going on, he felt the she-cat come closer to him and bury her face in his pelt. This kind of action from the she-cat caused Scar to blush slightly. "J-Jade?" His tone with a bit of disbelief, seeing how relieved she was to see him.
Once she was finally off of him, and car was finally able to make sense of what happen he got up slowly and looked at the she-cat. A slight chuckle coming from him seeing how Jade was embarrassed she was from her actions. It was probably the first time he's seen her like this, it was something new and so alien. "Well..I did come back to..to get you r-remember? I mean- that was really the only excuse you gave me to come to you anyways."
Jade visibly relaxed, looking up at him with tired eyes. "I want to go. I want to go back with you but... The kits... i can't leave my kits..." She meowed softly. "And Coal.. He wouldn't let them come back with me.. would he?" She looked down at her paws for a few moments, just standing in silence, then stood up, her green gaze glimmering. "Ill have to make him let me keep them. Im not leaving my kits but I.. i can't say here anymore..." She stepped back, turning away from him. "Just give me a few minutes to get the kits and ill be back." She assured him.
Scar's ears perked up when he heard Jade say how she didn't want to stay. A growl almost made his way out his throat, but he kept it down. His eyes squinted at the barn that Jade and her kidnapper mate currently lived in. He'll never forgive that tom, NEVER. His eyes softened looking at the she-cat. "Don't worry, he'll have to. I'll make him so you don't have to leave them." Scar vowed. "How..How many are you bringing with you?"
"Um..." Jade frowned, counting each of the kits. She had six in all, but she didn't know if all of them would want to stay. "Im not sure, it depends on who wants to stay and who wants to come along." She looked up at him. Wait in the bushes, ill be back in a moment.." With those words, she turned and padded back to the barn, slipping inside.
What seemed like an eternity later, she emerged from the hole in the wall, four kits trailing after her. A fierce pair of eyes watched her walk over to Scar, while two smaller, softer pairs did the same. Jade didn't glance back at them, and urged the four kittens at her paws to do the same. She stopped in front of Scar, relaxing. "These four are coming." She meowed. "The other two are staying here." She paused, her pelt quivering, the fierce eyes still watching them. "Lets go. I can't handle standing in his sight anymore..." Without giving him time to reply, Jade walked in the direction of the home she had first come to know, nudging the kittens along with her.
Scar nodded and went back into the bushes to wait. His heart was beating against his chest and the pace was rising. It was happening, Jade was coming back into his life. The only thing that concerned the tom was one, his adopted father and two, how the kits will feel about him. They were basically leaving their father to met him, probably the worse cat described to them. The tom looked up at the sky, reminiscing on how his life came to be.
The orange she-cat came out and Scar watched as four little bundles followed after her. He shifted around in the snow, looking at all her kits then shifted back to Jade. "Alright." Padding next to her. "Hopefully you haven't been too much into domestic life that you forgot where we lived at or made you lose your sense of fighting." Scar nudged her slightly to release some tension.
Jade stiffened, her eyes narrowing as she smirked at him. "Loose my sense of fighting~?" She purred darkly. "Scar dear, fightings in my blood. I breath it. I'll never loose my fighting skills." She grinned, a vivid memory crossing through her mind. "Oh yes.. I have quite a story to tell when we get home, and a sign of respect to give to your dear old dad~" She padded on, carrying Jasper and Primrose, who were beginning to fall behind already, by the scruff. "Chu yhu charry hem?" She mumbled through the fluff, pointing to Emerald and Thorn, who were also trailing behind a bit.
Scar stuttered slightly at the slight insane tone from the she-cat, but smiled fondly once she padded away with her two kits. It was like old times, the times that Scar missed so much with Jade and Coal. The rogue tom looked over at the other kits lingering behind and picked them up by the scruff like he was told to and begun following after the orange she-cat. He wondered how the kits will take it with their home, separated from their real father and coming to live in some unknown stranger's place. 'Only time can tell I guess..' Scar thoughts, continuing to walk forward with the other two kits.
After what seemed like an eternity of walking, they reached the familiar den that Jade had once called home. Sighing softly Jade stopped just inside the edge of the clearing and set her two kits down, looking around and sniffing the air. "So you're staying here full time now?" She asked as she led the kits over to the den, peeking inside to make sure Coal wasn't inside. "Theres not much room in here, not enough for all of us at least. Ill have to make a nest out here for the five of us to sleep in." She glanced over at Scar. "Would you mind lending a paw..?" She asked softly.
Scar settled down the kits, a bit disappointed that Coal was here at the small den they called their home. Well, its not really their home now since it was occupied with 6 more guests. "Sure." With that said, Scar padded next to Jade's side to set up the nest. He went out to gather the materials, luckily it wasn't far from their reach. "Hey Jade?" Scar spoke up as he was fixing the moss. "Are you going to leave again?" He asked, almost in a whisper. "Are you going to leave once your kits are all grown up to take care of themselves?"
She settled beside him as she helped him form the nest, her eyes never leaving their paws as they worked. She relaxed beside him, and felt a shiver run through her skin as he spoke her name. She lifted her head, looking over at him, then gently touched her muzzle to his ear. "If I leave.. I have no where to go... why would i leave?" She smiled softly at him. "Even when my kits are grown and off on their own.. This will be my home. Always." She reassured him, finishing the nest and laying the kits in it. "Im not gonna leave. Not ever."
Scar's ears perked up to hearing what Jade had to say, his heart suddenly picked up it's pace and thumping against his chest. She would stay, she was going to stay, and those words made the rogue tom happy and relieved. "I'm..." His gaze soften and softly smiled at the she-cat. "I'm glad..then.." He fell silent, ringing was in his ears and all he heard from now was his own heart rapidly thumping in his chest. "..then...will you stay here with me? Not for the purpose of this being your only home, but, if you're willing to have me with you everyday.."
The she cat tilted her head as she looked up at him, blinking curiously. "Of course I'll stay with you Scar, I don't really have a choice. This is your home too silly." She frowned, repeating his words quietly in her head. "..then...will you stay here with me? Not for the purpose of this being your only home, but, if you're willing to have me with you everyday.." She looked away, adding the last touches to the nest, repeating it again. "..if you're willing to have me with you everyday.."
"...willing to have me..." She lifted her head slightly, her visible eye widening as she looked over at him. "Wait a second, you mean... like...? You mean.. have you like a.. a mate...?" She stared up at him, a slow warmth spreading through her cheeks. "But you just left Volkner because you didn't want to be held down by being his mate!" A voice in her head growled. "Yea but.. Volkner wasn't Scar... Scar knows me.. knows who i am and what I do... he won't hold me back..." She reminded the voice, looking back down at the nest. "I.." She started, her voice trembling slightly as she turned, looking him dead in the eye. "Yea. Ill stay with you.. Ill stay just for you, cause... you're the reason I wanted to come back Scar.. I could find a home anywhere.. I could take one if I wanted to.. I left because I wasn't myself with Volkner.. he held me down and made me who I wasn't but you.. I can be normal around you and you won't care... You won't freak out when I come back bloody.. and I like you Scar.. I really like you..." She looked down. "And I want to stay with you.."
For what seems like forever, Scar was nervous for Jade's response. A little wave of disappointment hits him in the face like a cold splash of water, seeing how Jade didn't see the meaning behind his words. He sighed to himself, maybe it was for the best. "Well Jade's not one to go for romance..Maybe that's why she left Volkner in the first place.." Scar thought before his attention goes back to the orange she-cat and he stood still when he saw how strange Jade was acting. The copper tom froze when they're eyes made contact, his heart beating rapidly in his chest. His ears perked up when he heard the other's confession, a warmth spread across his face as his blue eyes widen. So many emotions were rushing through the young rogue, relief, and joy.
"Jade..." He said softly before padding forward, leaning his forehead on hers. "You have..no idea how happy that makes me feel to hear you say those words..you're constantly on my mind since you gave up your freedom for me..I know you care more about others because you risk everything you have for them..and I'm grateful for that. You absolutely awe me with all your fighting and as much as I hate for you to come back all bloody, I know its something in your nature and honestly I love it when you come back all bloody because I know you're enjoying yourself..I like you too..I really do.." Scar confessed. "And I..I would like for you to stay. I would like to stay with you too.."
She listened to him, a slow blush creeping across her cheeks and she looked down to hide it, her tail wrapping around her paws. "I came all the way back.. you better stay with me." She meowed, scooting forward and pressing her muzzle into his shoulder, breathing in the scent she had missed so much. She breathed out slowly, slowly lifting her head, gliding the end of her muzzle up his neck, across his cheek and down to the end of his muzzle, her nose touching his. "You're mine.. okay? no one else's... You belong to me.. and in return, I belong to you... If you agree.. and you'll agree.. it'll be us. Not 'scar', not 'jade'.. Us. You and me." She grinned at him, her eye glittering, and licked his nose, leaning back as she turned and finished the nest, going over to the kits and putting them in the soft leaves. She looked over at him again, leaning up to touch his nose again. "Go back to sleep.. its still morning, we can get a bit of rest till Coal gets back." She meowed softly, curling around her kits. "Night."
