Huddled in a corner, Nox was breathing heavily, drawing ghostly shadows in the air that danced among the graves. Exhausted and sore, he laid his yellow eyes on the silver cross that he was holding in his paw, and that was slightly burning his palm. A minor pain compared to the cuts in his back that let a few tears of blood run down his injured body. He was like a fetus in the womb of the cemetery where he had found refuge.

Under the impassive face of the Virgin Mary in stone, the blessed one, lay the tormented muzzle of a being made of flesh and bone, Nox, the cursed one.

The creature pricked up his ears when he heard the cries of his pursuers in the distance, swearing to God to annihilate him. They were praying to the Holy Mother to give them the strength to destroy him.

The damned monster, for his part, simply closed his eyes and tried to imagine his own mother coming to take him away from his enemies. His attackers were screaming as he whispered: "Mother..."
