Man.. if I can ever get to a stage like this where I can paint over my 3d models and get the same effect that you've achieved with this.. lol. This is amazing. Those lights draw you in! Love your work NRAG. Cheers!

Thanks man! Your work is well on its way. After rendering in keyshot I do a few specific things. I add texture layers to the model (metals, dirt, whateves). I enhance the lighting, keyshot does a great job but I find a little tweaking goes a long way. Add atmosphere affects (debris, smoke). Overpaint super fine details like panel lines, scratches, decals, paint job, or bolts. I also add an FX group with lens flares, barrel smoke, or metal shiny's. It's a lot of extra work to the render but if it's something you're interested in doing hopefully this will help. Enjoy! Thanks again.

by 'after rendering in keyshot, I do a few specific things...' you mean all in Photoshop right? (or other post suite you may use). If that's the case, yeah I know what you're talking about! I've seen tutorials and others do the same (Ben Mauro for example) so I've been keeping tabs on all that info. I'll just have to save your little bit of advice and try it out on my turret once I'm done the modelling phase.
Which, thank you for the comment and the advice. Means a lot. I look forward to more of your work!

There's a great pose there and the background effects don't distract much from the model The lights have a simple and sleek look, the colours are complimentary and subtle. Nothing is over saturated or over designed. Personally I think this is a really great piece and I'd love to see more like it! Is there anything you could tell me more about this piece such as time it took or any particular techniques? Thanks.

Thank you so much! Those are all things I really wanted to nail down into the image. I first built the model in Google Sketchup, then I rendered it in Keyshot, last I painted over the top of the image in Photoshop adding LOTS of fine detail, debris, the ground, atmosphere effects, and amping up the lighting. I wasn't keeping track of time when I made this, but I'd guess around 15 hours. Thanks again!
