I’m going to try and keep doing these challenges because they’re really fun. Not to mention, it’s a nice exercise! Round two with @gemsona-hq ‘s character design challenge is Hackmanite! This one took a little more planning than Boulder Opal, but I think the design came out very nice.
Hackmanite here is a defective rogue gem. Without his mechanical skeleton, he becomes glitchy and unstable. His main abilities rely on solar and light manipulation, which he uses to fuel his body. This power gives him a boost in shape shifting: instead taking on a purple color scheme, he can perfectly mimic the colors of the gem or object he transforms into. Hackmanite uses this to sneak into highly secure places and steal its riches. He’s one of Homeworld’s most wanted, a status he takes pride in. Unfortunately, his arrogance lands him in tough situations. His powers come from his body’s energy supply, something he uses too much of. Hackmanite’s weapon is a flintlock that shoots out beams of light.

I guess I could see this being the form for male pronounce gems. while the female formed ones are more humanoid, the male form ones are more galactic/robotic/alien-like

Nah. Hackmanite is unique to other hackmanites considering he's severely defective and requires the suit to function properly. Normal hackmanites look entirely different.

he's amazing! I casually have a gem that is also a "disguise master" Rogue, they'd get along pretty well and be both wanted in homeworld!

My peridot Gemsona even as a bounty hunter would have a difficult time even tracking him. She best make him a friend better then her enemy

Wouldn't do her any good: Hackmanite has a hard time trusting others so he doesn't make a lot of friends.

Not a lot doesn't mean none, it means a opportunity. I'm sure my peridot could get even ground with him. She's a Gementicist also
