Few years ago I drew some character designs of Aztec goddesses for a tabletop miniature game "Going Native" which focuses on mesoamerican folklore. They were top sellers in the campaign, so I was asked to draw some more design. I normally don't take commissions because I hardly have the time and energy to draw even my own projects, but these were interesting to work with.

It seems that the new campaign isn't up yet, but here is a link to the earlier kickstarter: www.kickstarter.com/projects/2… . I also received the figures of my design as a part of the commission reward, and boy they look awesome!

Nagual - a human shapesifter in mesoamerican folklore. There was already a male version, so I was asked to draw a female version with similar design. I drew her her arm in the middle of transforming into a panther.

Lady Six Sky - She was a ruler and general of one of the Mayan City States. I was given various references to build up the design.

Mother of Coatls, Na'kaano - A fictional hero able to command feathered serpents representing three elements, earth, wind and fire. Mixcoatl, the cloud serpent, Tetlcoatl, the stone serpent and Xuihcoatl, the flame serpent were drawn according to their respective design sheets and therefore aren't my original creations. The character is a mixture of several references.

All designs were heavily referenced from the material I was provided. My chosen inking technique was rather laborious to draw, especially the feathers. Na'kaano was really difficult with the feathered serpents around, I literally drew each individual feather. All dark/black areas are drawn with crosshatching, so drawing tons of thin lines took a lot of time and patience. Each design took at least 10 hours or so.
