EDIT: FOUND IT! The doujinshi is by "Morino Hon" and the name is "touhou 4koma series". Here is the link to the part where Pyonta appears xD danbooru.donmai.us/posts/45811…For a change, I tried to draw male character. Pyonta from touhou was a natural choice. Among Maid Guy, Pyonta surely is one of the coolest guys in the universe.
Drawing male anatomy is rather rough task to do in comparison to females. As I don't really have enough anatomical knowledge, I went with quasi-anatomy. I tried to fake the muscles with nearly random details. I looked at some references, but I didn't really study them much. I used them just to get an idea what's going on in there. That said, this isn't accurate for reference use.
Those who don't know, Pyonta is Suwako Moriya's hat from touhou series. In touhou fandom the hat has become sort of a sentient being. I remember reading really funny touhou doujinshi where Pyonta was depicted somewhat like this. Sadly I don't remember the doujinshi name, I would have wanted to have a look at it xD

I can see some of the areas where you took creative liberty in the values, but it's still overall very hard for me to catch, despite having studied anatomy. Either I am still a long ways away from truly understanding, or you just happened to make it convincing enough to fool the eyes.
I think this piece did a good job of reminding me to re-study and commit the muscular masses to memory. I have a general idea of anatomical shapes, but not a working database for how muscles react and act when flexed, relaxed, and in certain positions; aspects that would help greatly for any sort of action-oriented piece I attempt in the future. Back to the practice board for me!
And excellent work rendering an already funny concept in a more comedic light xD

the biggest problem i find is the hips being waaaay too wide, a male pelvis is not that big. Other than that it looks fantastic.

This guy has almost the same basic structure of one of my characters XD (But my character has more fat tissue on his body, so muscles aren't that defined)
Anatomy is my favourite subject in drawing (even if I need to study it. A lot too) and seeing this make me think: 'I can't wait to know it more!'

Having drawn only female characters, male anatomy is really complex. Especially if it's about muscular men though it's just matter of getting familiar with it.
Learning anatomy takes a bit too much of effort to my liking so I prefer playing with proportions and scales. I have started to implement some anatomical details in my drawings regardless. I'm slowly adding them so that there isn't too much to learn in one go. I'm satisfied if I can fake the anatomy convincingly x'D. Gotta pay more attention to the lower body, namely the legs, pelvis and butt from now on.

I've read once that a good way to study anything is studying few things at time, for few minutes at day: the first day, the first time you should study for 10 minutes (or more), then after half hour other 10 minutes of study, and then 10 minutes of study every hour.
From the day later you should study about half hour, once a day, it should stick better in your memory. You should repeat this every day for one year. I have read that this teach to your brain to keep the elements you study in long term memory instead of short term memory, because brain assume those things are useful for your surviving.
I tried this method, it works quite well even on me (I was always bad at learning anything).
