Oh, my coloring method isn't worth learning. It's too laborious to do and requires a lot of faith, because it won't look very good until the very end. I have had artist's blocks because of it.

fav.me/d5igj6x I drew this kind of break down of the coloring method I have used on this mermaid drawing as well. That's not very good example of it though, because the colors get too foggy in it. This kind of coloring works well with quick drawings. I color refined drawings in similar way, though I have just more colors on their own layers to meddle with.

Thanks for sharing, the method you used here isn't really complicated, I understood it quite well.
Was that done in Paint Tool Sai(I find it more user-friendly)?
I'll be sure to try this out a couple of times, thanks again!

Photoshop? Yes I have, though only for photo manipulation. I find it too cumbersome for drawing.

Of course I could do that, but I don't usually fix my works afterwards, especially older works. I want to be honest with my mistakes, so if there are any that I missed before finishing the piece, I address them in my following works.

If you take a closer look, you can see how sloppy most of the lines are (especially on the background). Drawing is all about "creative laziness". In digital drawing this is often neglected, I have done that and I'm still doing.

Thus it's high time to live true to the spirit of drawing and learn to take it easy sometimes

This took about 3 hours, so I find it quite quick.

I guess I'm too used to the mermaids that have their butts covered up... aka The Little Mermaid (the extent of my mermaid knowledge lol)

But in actuality, your mermaid makes more sense, biologically. Fancy that, eh?

I'm not sure whether I had seen it drawn like that before, but indeed, I also find it makes more sense that way

Darn, I was visiting my parents and now I'm heading back and I left my drawing tablet there! It takes at least 3 days for the postman to deliver it to me... I was planning to do one quickee today too, but no chance
