As a blacksmith in training(yes we still exist). This is really cool! but I have a few things That I wish to critic. first off, the floor is to messy. Dont get me wrong, most black smiths like a messy work area, but all of the bits of metal on the floor would be in a scrap pile(no metal goes unused). And also the anvil stand looks a Little shaby, like it was make in a hurry. an anvil stand is meant to take one hell of a beating. One of the more transnational ways to make an anvil stand is take a solid log and wrap a iron band around it. they did this because no mater how hard the wood is, the pounding it takes from an anvil and hammer will eventually split the wood.
the only other major issue I have with this is the hammer. It looks really cool, but its a sledge hammer. Yes some times a smith will use a sledge hammer, but for day to day forging a cross peen hammer (<-- Google it) is usually preferred. Also the horn of the anvil is supposed to be round for bending things, not flat. On the other hand I like all the detail, like the leaves lying around, the pieces of tinder in the forge. And the sort of abstract lighting. One of my favorite things about this is the almost cartoon like aspect of the wood and the colors.
All in all I really like this! And appreciate that some one still values a dieing trade.

To those that wondered if that is a bbq grill or something...
answer is Nope! That is a 1940's rivet forge. There is a crank on the side of it that you cant see and it produces the "wind" that blows up out of the center of the pan underneath the hot coals. If you look real close there is another larger pan forge, laying on it's side on the floor behind the smaller forge.
Cheers! mommypeep

Is that a grill? Doesn't seem to be any way of getting air into it, you know, for oxygen and stuff. Otherwise, it looks pretty accurate.

I like the colours and shading very much, and the scene itself is oddly captivating. I prefer straight lines and perfectly proportioned objects in illustration myself, but that's just personal preference, so clearly from a technical perspective this really is very good.
