Description
So, I decided to give me a second try on Hugh Laurie as "Gregory House", since the first one was one of my first portraits and the result was...you know what I meanI started drawing on this one with one intention: it should become the best I've ever drawn!!!
Therefor I also used the circulism technique on the skin for the first time.
So far I'm quite satisfied with the results and I really hope I won't mess up the hair (again).
Take a look at other stages of this drawing:

What's the technique you used for the hair and the beard and mustache, may I ask?

Hihi
right now I'm working on putting all the single steps together in one single deviation to clean up my gallery

Good idea. It'd be easier to follow, although what you've done for now isn't bad either.

If it were in colour, I'd believe it was actually him staring at me.

I honestly not even thought about taking the time as it already took so many (often short) sessions. Approximately... a LOT of hours

Quite stunning result so far. Tell me, what is circulism?

Thanks for your comment!
Circulism is basically drawing very tiny overlapping and intertwining circles. Therefor I abrade the tip of my pencil , e.g. by using a piece of sandpaper or a nail file, to make it larger. As soon as you filled an area with graphit you blend it using a tissue, Q-tip or tortillion, by moving your tool in the same little circular motion. It's a great technique to attain a realistic skin texture.

Oh and how did you create the highlights?

To create the highlights I already try to spare these areas when I make the pencil strokes. You don't have to be too carefully with blending as these graphit traces can easily be erased afterwards. As soon as I finished an area of the drawing I use a kneaded eraser so lighten up the highlights.
P.S.: I just finished the drawing, you can find it here: final drawing .

One more thing. The left eye seems a bit too oval.
