Like most artists, I've wanted to step out of my comfort zone for awhile now but never had the confidence and never knew where to start. Whenever I tried I'd always be stumped and never knew where to find a good reference to work from.

Until today.

These stock images are more than just useful they're also inspiring. Could think of at least a dozen different ways I could use this. Not only is the pose useful but the glowing orb gives me an idea on where the shadows should be.

Really useful resource and wish I'd known about this sooner.

There are a lot of things which go into object source lighting. So often we mess up contrast, don't apply enough source light and simply don't capture the way (light-coloured) skin reacts to high-intensity light, especially the specularity and translucence aspects. This is also actually very useful for painting miniatures with glowy swords or fireballs.

A couple more shots slightly to the left and right holding the source would also help us understand depth in the pose. I was just thinking your stomach muscles are in tension there and it would be useful to be able to see that too.

The only thing I'd ask for is a dark-skinned model for comparison but you can't really do anything about that personally

Thanks, it was indeed taken for extreme contrast and low light, I wish I could pack a stronger bulb or flash into the ball so we could ave more ambient light.
As for other angles we did take a few more but this is a re post of some old stock from last year so the moment has somewhat passed/until next time.
And yeah....XD can't change our skin colour and I am normally the only model/the subject.

This light ball series is SO GOOD! Not only are the poses perfect, but the dramatic lighting is so much fun and super helpful! I would leave a critque but I don't feel like I know enough about stock or poses to give any helpful feedback. I'd probably just rave "IT'S SO GOOD KEEP GOING I MIGHT END UP DRAWING ALL MY CHARACTERS LIKE THIS LOL"

I absolutely HAVE to use this as a reference for something!

I adore your recent lighting references, especially the ones that make use of dramatic lighting and perspective like this one. I've also noticed you're wearing light colored shorts in this one, so thank you for that as well.

Was that lightbulb hot to the touch? Most of them are, therefore one must assume that you are a true wizard and had magical protection for this spell.

Seriously though, thank you very much for this stock!

Haha yes and no, they were in a plastic ball, however they did eventually heat up the air inside the ball it was hot to the touch

That's never fair. XD
It looks like you got some pretty cool stock from it before it heated up, though. Good work!
