Choeradodis is a genus of praying mantises that have leafy looking bodies to help them blend in with their surroundings, to help them both hide from predators and ambush prey. I.E. They are bugs that disguise themselves as plants.
In the Pokemon world, where there are not only Planimals, but sentient plants as well, Lurantis is the opposite of Choeradodis, it is a plant that disguises itself as a bug. Who knows what evolutionary advantage this would give it. It would additionally appear that Sun and Moon delve deeper into real evolution (not metamorphosis) than other Pokemon games, and gives us things like tall Exeggutor which showcases divergent evolution from a common ancestor separated geographically. Lurantis is perhaps this game's example of natural selection; predators killed the ones that looked less like bugs over generations.

I find it really cool that they're adding Genetic Diversity within the pokemon families. I hope Mightyena get's an alolan form.

I absolutely adore this piece of art! It is really cute, I adore the pose Lurantis is in and the flowers and petals in the background work really well with Lunrantis. Great job!
personally, I think Lurantis would suit a fairy/bug type and pre-evolution can have grass/bug but grass/bug works too!
