I liked it very much I've tried a few times to take such a shot but failed miserably LOL

Well, the question is: why you gave up?

MayEbony In reply to NunoCanha [2012-06-14 16:47:32 +0000 UTC]

I haven't had a lot of opportunity, and have only been able to try it on birds so far, but I will try again one day.

Try with something less fast, first.
Take a morning/afternoon just for that kind of shots.

Thank you, I will try. We are about to go on a holiday (vacation, if you call it that) and there should be some slower-moving things for me to try there. In Australia there are very few bikes and everyone races around in cars LOL My youngest son rollerblades so maybe I should try on him one day.

ThatΒ΄s a good idea, and I hope you enjoy your free time.
About speed... And why not people?

MayEbony In reply to NunoCanha [2012-06-15 11:43:49 +0000 UTC]

People as they walk along? Don't they bounce up and down too much?

I'll never forget my first attempt at a slow shutter speed. My grand-daughter was bouncing on the trampoline so I set it for 3 seconds thinking that this may not be slow enough. I soon learned that life is travelling faster than I'd believed. I will not be upset if you laughed LOL

NunoCanha In reply to MayEbony [2012-06-15 11:50:45 +0000 UTC]

DonΒ΄t any motive to laugh.
My techniue, in everything, is "try-miss-try again".
Always was and IΒ΄n sticking to it.
Under 1/60 is very hard to handheld, so take it easy, go for 1/40.

I agree that you learn the most when you get it wrong in the beginning.

I was very proud of myself recently when I went to take [link] I just went to shutter speed and selected 1/6 (it says 1/10 in the camera data ) and got exactly what I wanted first time. I'm still learning and it was so good to succeed this time

Nice panning Nuno, very well done. I tried it once as an exercise and its surprisingly difficult. You did well..

Thanks, John. Yes, it is.
I found that itΒ΄s easier when youΒ΄re not that close to the subject, and you keep following the subject after the click, the subject gets more definition, even at 1/40.
This was the last shot, I was heading to my car
