nutcase23 — Kagami - Fun with Water

Description Location: Vivo city, Singapore
Figures: Izumi Konata and Hiiragi Kagami of the Wave Beach Queen Series

General comments: Decided to go for the concept of "Day at the Pool" rather than the beach as shooting at the beach can be a bitch for these kind of shoots.

Specific comments: DSLR 1 cm above water while lying prone in the water with assistant splashing water. Lost count the number times I had to dry my lens. 92 shots, one workable one. Not doing this again in a hurry.

Love the effort you put to your photography work. I'm inspire indeed. Good job and keep it up.

90 shoots? hmmm...

I use the EOS 7D with 7fps, I once end up with 250+ images just shooting my brother doing martial art in 38 seconds. Of course we got a 60MB/second 32 GB CF card too. This helps with the performance in saving the data without having to buffer.

If your Nikon can performer faster rate, I bet you will have more selection and less takes. XD

I might as well wait till the D300s gets an upgrade and get that

OOooooo!!!!!! Upgrade? Like D500? LOL I'm waiting for an upgrade camera too. Trying to get the Canon EOS 5D Mk3. It should be out during middle or end of 2011. Say, maybe you can save enough money to get the D700 instead? Just don't need to eat much and control your spending on figures. LOL

Well, most of my lens will be the DX format lens and I don't see myself going full frame (cost and area of photography) so I don't think I will be getting a D700 ^^

DX format? OH I see... that's like saying EF-S in Canon world I think. Say, do you have any Dollfie Dream, Super Dollfie, or Azone Ex-Cute Pure Neemo photography? I bet you would do an excellent job at it if you have taken them.

I do have some shots here and there.

I wouldn't say they are excellent though =X

O.o I like to see. If you feel they are not good enough to show, perhaps you can try again. Everyone's skill will improve with time.

another nice shot! 1 thing i dislike about taking shots of water on figures is that the water droplet on the hair and face looks unnatural.

Certainly a valid concern.

I agree with the statement and technically I should have dried Kagami after every try. But after taking 90+ shots of the same thing you eventually CBF the whole thing. At least Kagami made a good practice run such that my attempt with Konata was much quicker and less painful. Apprently it turned out better as well.

Either way, it was a good learning experience and as inferno (the saikang) says, "It's hard to manipulate water when you are not a water bender". =/
