I always wanted to draw Aaron Tyson, the boyfriend of the main character of one of my good DA friends X-SoniaTyler-X , and with her redesign contest that's been going on, I got a legitimate reason for doing so. Especially since I really wanted to go beyond just simply drawing him when I finally got around to it.

Aaron was originally a hedgehog, but he is now being transitioned into a wolf character just as Sonia Tyler herself was a few years ago. This of course offers even more possibilities for more "traditional" anthro designs (although I've been successfully redesigning Exitrizo into a more stylized anthro look as shown here ), and I wanted to make him unique in the anthro style just as I would want to if drawing him in a more Sonic/Mobian approach. Aaron's hairstyle is partly a throwback to the old look but it works really well as a standalone wolf-type hair design, too. I also simplified the pants, completely redesigned the shoes with black and red accents, and gave him a stunning new leather jacket with dozens of studs because the guy actually is one, as she herself has actually said to complete the "totally stylish bad boy" approach. On a side note, Aaron has a birthmark on his left eye which I obviously would've drawn, but the pose I managed to land on shows off only his right eye. Whoops, I guess?

This was actually done in the space of a few hours, mostly while waiting for my car which was being serviced (and due to some complications, the general weekend rush, and some issues they found in the multipoint inspection, took over 4 hours total to get done!). Thank goodness I brought the iPad along. You'll notice that this one is strictly flat colors; I focused mainly on the overall design of the character since that's what the contest was about in the first place.
