Description
Wow. This pic took waaaaay too long for how not-complicated it is.This was suppossed to be a gift for someone, but I won't be seeing him, and it did not come out well enough to be a gift, although I do like it. I am bad with shading, but I guess I'll get better if I actually create environments in which I have to practice it.
The things in the back are Keese, and are only there because without them, the pic was dangerously unbalanced, not that I know anything about that or anything. I think having them makes the pic a little bit dark and scary, which is not what I wanted - I wanted to put sleeping Keese hanging by their feet, but I'm too lazy.
This took about 20 hours, if not more, spanned over a week and a half. Ow.
Done with Photoshop - Entirely using a Wacom Tablet (no pre-existing sketch, 'sketching' and 'inking' took most of the hours, actually, lol)
It's not entirely finished yet, either, I just couldn't wait to put it up. I could have spent 20 more hours on it fixing the (ugly, dull) fire, and adding more to the background...but there is a limit to my patience, and I suppose I have reached it...
This piece, besides being an attempted gift, probably stemmed from my subconcious desire for a cute-yet-serious Zelda. Not too cute like Wind Waker, but not too serious like Twilight Princess. Somewhere in the middle...but...it doesn't matter what I want, I don't want Nintendo to go losing money just because I'm picky - go ahead and do what you think is right.

Excellent work!ย
I've always wondered why Zelda had a cross on his shield for the first two games.

Thank you!!
I'm not sure, but it could just be a generic symbol that fits the space well. Although there are some oddly Christian themes in some of the artwork from older Zelda games like this!
img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20โฆ
In fact, while trying to find that image, I found a whole article on it!
zelda.wikia.com/wiki/Christianโฆ
The internet is pretty cool for things like that. xD

XD Thanks! I use cel shading a lot, because it's the only form of shading I truly understand

I love Cell shading.
Other styles are good too, but they are much harder, mine always stuff up. ^_^;
But I'm learning from lots of tutorials trying to get better.
You use tutorials?

I've used one once ^^ I'm not even good enough to follow a tutorial properly, heh heh XD

They can be pretty damn difficult.
I'm not sure how much you like them but there are some good one's on DA.
Practice is the best way really.

This is so awesome! I love the oldschool Link personally, if only because it's the closest to the way that I draw Link (though I actually usually try to go for the Oracles-style, it almost always comes out looking more like this XD). Heh, this picture is just so... nostalgic, it reminds me of those cute illustrations from the NES/SNES Zelda manuals.

This is such a great picture of Link! You draw him so well, and the way you've coloured this really adds up for an awesome effect n_nb

Alright! Actually, he reminds me of the Classic Link, the kind that starred in the SNES game and Koholint Island. There's so much good stuff going on in this picture that I just can't help but

Awww, thanks! Yeah, I was going for old-school Link, I think he's the cutest ^^
Although sometimes I wish I could draw the more serious Links from N64+ (excluding Wind Waker Link, I can do him juuuuust fine XD ) I'm also glad that I can draw the older Links well enough to make people remember the oldies ^^
Thanks for the fav!!

You totally can, and better, I know just know it ^^ Set up an environment where you'd need to use it, and give it a shot!

Yeah, I rather like the old NES Links, they have a certain charm to them. XD I really like the Zelda 1 manual Links, though, they are so chibi XD
