Oh, don't worry, I understand. I wanted to make sure it was this you just said, as opposed to another thought I had. But, you know. xD
Anyway, I don't want to be insensitive, but honestly, I think this guy sounds like he's trying to step over other 'good-natured' beliefs about saving animals. Like, it seems to me he's against adopting other kitties, like the only right thing to do is adopt from the shelter, and that's it.
Adopting from a shelter is far from wrong, but I mean, he sounds like that's the only solution. And, uh, no offense, I hate people who go too extreme on a subject like this, since arguing against it makes it seem like you're a total douchebag. xD
I just want to say, while yes, he has to put animals down and I see why he views things so big, but, well... I hope you see where I'm coming from.
My mom just volunteered to pay for spaying/neutering if the person adopting couldn't afford it, anyway. We're settling around that. :]

x3 He is a bit on the extreme side, but I do understand why he's so frustrated -- but he thinks that all animals should be spayed/neutered in the first place, not that people shouldn't give homes to animals who are born by accident. You know what I'm saying? In other words - he wishes people who own pets would neuter/spay them, always, so they don't add to the overpopulation.
But then again, I think that depends on area -- some people live in areas that are NOT over-populated with animals, and then I don't think spay/neuter is as important. x3
He IS extreme...but he's a good guy in the end. x3 I just made a vow that I would always tell people to spay/neuter, because it makes his job less sad if they do.

Sorry if I sounded insensitive, I have a friend who goes extreme on things, like they give off some sort of vibe that what they think is superior to what the general crowd thinks, so I'm basing that off your friend as a first impression. He'd hate me...! xD
But, anyway, I get it now. I can understand it all from the start that you want to avoid having to have too many animals that will just end up unloved and lonely, then just have to die. :[ I'll be with him so long as he doesn't think it's bad for us to be adopting kitties out. We normally have 3, so I think that's not bad.
Honestly, though, in a way, I feel spaying/neutering an animal is a little mean in its own way, since the animal will never get a mate... But, I'm young, and only recently discovered it's the same thing as castration, so the animals wouldn't actually care for that after.
...That's just a personal thought from me. :\

Yeah, I know a lot of people feel that way, and there is a lot of anti-spay/neuter talk lately for that reason, with more reasons thrown in (like the idea that spay/neutering too early can cause problems). But the way I see it, from what I have read, an animal does not care if he has been neutered, and if you do it at the right time in their life, of course if your vet says it's okay (there are cases where you shouldn't, of course!) there will be no problems. So I always spay/neuter my pets, because I live in an area where a litter of dogs or cats would be a real problem -- cats and dogs are VERY overpopulated here. It's very sad.
But you guys care a lot for your animals, and it makes me happy to see that. :3

Well, eh, I was looking into that earlier. I did get an idea that the animal wouldn't be too affected.
I mean, other than a few kitties, I'm literally the only male in my house. xD Even all the normal kitties we keep are female. Before one of them was spayed, when she got in heat she'd keep rubbing my leg and got in my shirt once... while I was wearing it. xD And now, she's spayed, and all she cares about is going outside.
Heck, we wouldn't let her outside before because she wasn't spayed yet...!
So, yeah.
But I'm happy too to see our kitties treated well. :3 I honestly think I'm not treating them well, but maybe that's because my mom and my sister usually tend to them and not me. I do help occasionally, though. -w-'
Just yesterday we got our first kitten adopted out, and the lady who got one, I can tell she'll take good care of them. She told us she used to be a veterinarian...! :]

Hah, she was all so peppy too. :3 Plus, her boyfriend came with her one time and he said he'd be helping out.
