I'm stuck at work...which is like a 3 hour drive from my house (with traffic) and this is my Mood.So I took it out on Felix.
This is how it feels to play Fix-it Felix when it's running on a raspberry pi instead of Windows. Poor boi. He's sluggish and an easier target for Ralph than usual. zzZZZZZ

IT'S BAD. Like if there were absolutely no traffic it would take 2 hours, but there is ALWAYS TRAFFIC. One day it took me 6 hours to get home because of traffic.

Honestly, every artist is so different it's really hard to say what will work best for any one person. I've got a textbook here, 20 whole years of lectures from Walt Stanchfield of Disney animation studios, and he'd probably tell you you should always work on everything together, as one piece, every time, in the effort to tell a "story" with your drawing. So, to try to come up with a good pose and expression, while also keeping in mind anatomy (which is less important than gesture, he'd say, but still important!).
I personally like to "iron out" details by themselves for a while, like eyes or paws or ribcages or whatever, until I understand them as parts before I try to put them all together into a "story" drawing. So, if you're looking to understand paws, definitely go to Google images and look some up and just...draw what you see - even if the drawing is bad, don't worry about it, it's all "Art EXP", you can throw the drawings out later, but you'll retain the EXP! Draw ten paws today. Do it! And if they're bad, that's okay. Just crumple them up - the experience is still with you and will help you in the future!
My favorite thing, and the thing that I think has been helping me the absolute most, is gesture study. I'm doing gesture studies of humans, but, they help with animals, too, strangely enough (any art study helps all kinds of art!). I've done them on www.posemaiacs.com , and that website is very helpful, but lately I've been a HUGE fan of www.quickposes.com . I start my art day (or end it, depending on how my job goes) with 4 quick (under 1 minute!) sketches based on art I admire in artbooks I have here at home, then ten 45-second pose gesture studies on QuickPoses, and then ten 90-second face studies, also on QuickPoses. And then if I still have some time or paper space left, I do a few hand studies (45-second), too (also on QuickPoses).
I justΒ got the QuickPoses desktop app which will let me put in folders of any kind of art I want to do quick studies of, too, and I have a feeling that's going to be awesome!!
I promise you, if you do a little bit of this every day (remember, just quick drawings, and they don't need to be good, you just need to doΒ them!), you'll be shocked by how far you've come in even just 2 months or so. But you have to stick with it! Even on days when you're tired or upset, if you even just do a few, it's so much better than doing none. If you keep up with it, literal miracles will happen!

I live in NJ, but commute DEEP into NY for work. Only once a week, because it's a 2 hour drive (usually 3 because of traffic, once it was even 6 HOURS!), but it's still...exhausting. To do THAT drive, and then a full office day, and then the same drive home!!!
