Edit:Tonight I got to practice my inking on Winston! I think I'm happy with the style of the inks now, but I'll have to keep doing it so it sticks. I'm happy with my progress!

I'm thankful the IDW comics showed more of who Winston is! I couldn't really tell from the movies except that he needed a job, was funny, and knew the Bible pretty well. xD The comics show that he had a history in the Marines, so he's definitely tough, but is probably the most caring member of the crew and has a weakness for helping little kids. He also sometimes thinks more clearly than Egon or Ray, and is a big help when they get stuck on things. He's awesome.
I wanted to make him a hound (but taller/lankier than Ray), but my first try went overboard on the houndy-ears, and I didn't like it much. You can see it on my Patreon here (FOR FREE!) --> www.patreon.com/posts/winston-…
I looked up "hound mix" on Google, and liked the lifted, more triangular ears and gave them a shot, and I like it much more. He loses some of the "hound" look, but I'm thinking he didn't really need it as much as I thought he did.
He's laying down because I already knew I'd run out of paper. xD Whoops.
So that's all four! Although Egon deserves a full-body sketch, and so does Patty, so I'll get on that when I get a chance.

Nicely done. Honestly Winston is a rather chill character honestly becuase he has a very likable personality and honestly he feels like the voice of reason among the four characters and is the one that helps bring the group together. I mean yeah his character isn't expanded upon much but honestly something about how they write that character makes him likable.

He is SO the voice of reason, and that makes the dynamic between him and the other three just precious. I love it. xD The other three are just lunatics, each in their own way, and Winston just wants a job.
The IDW comics do a great job of expanding his character, I really can't recommend them highly enough. xD I still want more from him, though, there isn't enough of Winston anywhere!

Now I got to read the comics if I can find all the copies of them. I want to see how the story of Ghostbusters is handled in comic book form. I guess I also should watch the television series The Real Ghostbusters because I want to see how that series is. I got that feeling when watching the first two movies that Ghostbusters actually would work as a television series. The cartoon would definitely be the best way to also get an interesting look at the universe.

The comics are AMAZING I love them so much, I can't shower them with enough praise. When I was younger, people always tried to get me into comic books, but I always balked at the usual "comic" style - so gritty and muscly and ugly. xD What I love about the IDW Ghostbusters comics is that the style is different from that - probably for good reason (I don't look at any of the Ghostbusters and think, that is a chiseled man). It's more of a cartoony, "squishy" style and I am in LOVE with it!

I've been watching The Real Ghostbusters in order on Netflix. It's surprisingly better than I remember, but I think as a kid a lot of it went over my head. For Pete's sake, the boys fight Cthulu, okay?! xD

For the most part figuring out the design of a human and transforming that into a dog. Seems really complicated.

It's hard, but it's fun! And on my Patreon, I show all the failures I've had while trying to figure it out - so don't think it all comes together at first!
Abby and Peter were especially hard for me, for some reason, but I admit, Ray and Holtzmann came together almost immediately. x3
I try to see what stands out and defines a character, and try to translate that onto a dog's shape. x3 Dogs are easier for me to draw than humans, so bizarrely, it's actually easier for me to do this than to draw them as a cartoon human!

Well you certainty know what you're doing. I definitely envy that creative aspect of yours. It's kind of the reason i started watching you awhile ago in the fist place. Anyway i think i can kind of understand. Just try to copy some of the human aspects onto the dog design (whatever that may be) right.
Although im not completely sure how you decide what breed of dog is best for said character. Is it just random, do you make you decisions based on the characters appearance or personality? There's just so many variables it's very difficult for me to even make a start.

It depends! I used to look through dog encyclopedias (I had a few, haha) to find a breed that looked like a character, and start from there, but lately, I'm feeling more freedom choosing a breed the character reminds me of, but not forcing myself to copy the breed's characteristics perfectly. So, all the Ghostbusters I have been doing are based on certain breeds, but then they're drawn with more importance placed on giving them traits that remind me of the character rather than staying true to the breed's standards. So, now I gave myself full freedom. x3
I never really thought about the "process" of turning these characters into dogs. xD I hope I'm explaining it well enough!

Probably not, since I have drawn over 10 of these guys now, and I'd want to color them all! I forgot to mention, I don't have time for finished, colored art in my life right now (aside from commissions, when I take those), which trust me, is one of the many things making me sad right now, but there may come a time when I can do more than sketches in the future!
