Analysis:
Those missile packs are big, tough, and hit hard. The pod is about as vulnerable as a piece of sting locked in Fort Knox. This is due to the packs' rotation ability. That leaves the main underside thruster. Even still, it's gonna hurt trying to get directly under it. It would take at least a dozen Anti-Air Guns to get through that armor.
Conclusion:
I see very few possibilities to take one of these things down with conventional weapons.

To any plant that sees this comment, STEER CLEAR OF THESE A.R.P.s. They will crush ANYTHING they see! Stay out of their view and strike while they're distracted. That's the only way I know that these things may be shot down.
