This falls into the category of "Really Obscure Mythical Creatures" - it is a Keythong, but they are closely related to a Griffin, and most often masculine.Sometimes they have more spines than this.

Aye, it's a hard life being just like a Gryphon (Which is like a Griffin, but different) but tasting of chicken. It is said they were friend to all moa. But they are a rare sight nowadays. (They've gone extinct TWICE!)
