I like that pictures like this can be interpreted differently by different people with different values and outlooks on life, even if you, the artist, may have intended something specific.
To me, it seems like perhaps it's a demon coming to take a sinful soul away to hell, and that it's "inevitable" that a sinful person who doesn't repent knows what's coming to them. Then again, given your quote, it could also be in the mind of the individual. If this is what they THINK they deserve, perhaps that's what they get and what they think they deserve manifests itself in such a way as to give them what they deserve.

The picture scares the crap out of me... the man looks like a clown, almost, and the dragon looks like it is taunting him... to me, it would sort of match the title in the sense that it means that the innocent will always be overtaken by the evil. I'm probably wrong, though

Weird pic ... great contrast and the rough style really fits it. Kinda gives it a victorian feel, imo. Like a real gloomy version of Grimm's book of tales.

I love this cooler version of Death. Too many times, I see his portrayal as a shrouded skeleton wielding a scythe.
