"Miss, this is yours." A member of the crew handed her a pocket.
Taking over it, she opened it, "Thank you."
They were the beads of Ace's necklace that she collected at the battlefield. "Excuse me, would you please tell me where the nearest land is?"
"I'm afraid it's at least 200 miles far away."
"Thank you."
"Besides it's going to be very dangerous, you know, sea storms... sea monsters ..."
"I see. Where's my boat?"
"In the cabin by the corner."
------------
"Miss Acasa, are you serious to leave?" Shachi finally asked.
"I have no right to stay here since I am not your nakama. Thank you all for helping me."
"..."Penguin kept silence.
"Please deliver my sincere gratefulness to your Captain. And also my apologies for previous rudeness towards him."
"But--" Shachi was interrupted.
"It is not wise." Deep voice from behind, a tall figure revealed with approaching footsteps.
"... I have my journey and I don't want to owe you too much, doctor, as I will not join you."
"You have owed me 'a lot' already, remember the last time? You almost fell down stairs ..." He said with that grin.
"I..." Acasa remembered the avoided accident and suddenly felt heat on her face.
"Do you want to be saved again by the enemy of your dearest friend? What can you pay for that?"
"...But I shouldn't stay here and I won't join the pirates."
"What about an alliance? Till the next island we'll land on. You do have a good knowledge of exploration, right?" The grin never left.
"Deal."
--------------
"That sounds wily, Captain." Shachi and Penguin said, "What happened last time?"
"We need to find something for her to do, but not as a captive." Law changed topic naturally. After thinking for a while he made his order.
-----------
Acasa was arranged to study in the cockpit with Bepo and Jean Bart. That was the only place she could find books except the Captain's room. As for her room, it was between the mates' and captain's room. A simple bed, desk and lamp, it was fairly good enough for her. She still kept on her sailing notes.
