In the eighth circle of hell there is a pit dedicated to swindlers, those who through deception have committed crimes to get rich. Although in life they pursued wealth through fraudulent means, in the eighth circle they find themselves immersed in a pit of boiling tar, watched by demons who make sure they do not stick their heads out. At this moment in the Divine Comedy, the poets do not exchange words with any of the condemned, but with the demons that watch over them, which will be the next image to represent in this series.
