A series of shots from my most recent trip to Alaska. I've been wanting to upload some of them for awhile, so I forced myself to narrow down the hundreds of nature and dog sledding photographs to these four; I most enjoyed the sea kayaking and whale watching, and all the bears we saw while ATV'ing through Lake Clark State Park (16!), so that's what I picked to represent my trip.I've decided I'll probably move these to a photography account as soon as I'm able to draw again. I don't want them mussing up my gallery, but I still kind of like them. Photography is a lot of fun. XD

We went to alaska once and stayed with my uncle...We went on a 6-hour boat tour and I felt miserable the whole time...Once you nearly get sick from being in the bottem of the boat near the front it seems like nothing can make you feel better except for solid ground ^_^ Sadly we didn't come upon any whales...though I think we saw one bear. XD

Is that bear diseased or is it just shedding its winter coat? I thinking it's the shedding.

It's shedding. X3 The shots were taken in late June, so all the bears were pretty scruffy looking.

Yup. People mistake us for mother and daughter a lot. She, our mom, and I are all exactly 18 years apart, and my sister's pregnant, so her kid will be exactly 18 years younger than me. It's kind of creepy. XD

Great shots, you're lucky! I lived there for two years (and went to Denali 4 times) and only ever saw some elk and some moose. (and Ravens, of course)

I know it. XD I think I have like some kind of large-and-potentially-dangerous-animal detection device lodged in my skull. X3 And it's totally spoiled me, too. I come home to white-tailed deer and fox literally at my door and am bored. I want to be around bears year round now. >.>;

My sister and I have awesome animal-finding karma. XD My first trip to Alaska about 5-6 years ago, a black wolf walked right in front of our truck in Denali, and we had porpoises racing us in our kayaks in Seward. I've been in love with the state and its wildlife since, and try to get up there at least every other summer. This is my first time getting so close to bears, though. >__>

You are very lucky. I agree though that the real-estate is insane. It's ver tempting to go buy a giant house somewhere in the continental US rather than paying an arm and a leg for a nice house here.
