Description It's 1 in the morning and I'm tired as hell, but I REALLY wanted to get this picture finished.

Alright, as a lot of you have seen, dA has made quite a bit of drastic changes over the course of three months.

The kickstarter was the change of the overall logo (which, by the way, is actually stolen from a Russian website called Platzkart [platzkart.ru/] ). Not only did it confuse a lot of members with the appearance of the Z (for Zeviantart?), but it took away the whole authentic feel to the entire site. If you were to look back on Deviantart's logo history, you would see that it remained pretty consistent. Plus, people would take one glance at it and automatically know what the site was. Today, it just doesn't feel right.

Moving on to the most recent change that made just about every member I've seen snap: The removal of webcams. dA claims that the widget has lost its initial value and those who want to keep that feature were to purchase the Premium Membership. Before the lot of you get on your high horses, I've seen the pros and the cons to this. The Pros include that dA is trying to be progressive, taking away this function allows the site to earn even more money through its users' premium purchases, it takes away some sexual-themed/suggestive content away from the profile pages of users, and it condenses any extremely long profiles (you know, the ones that you REALLY have to scroll down through). The cons include that nobody AT ALL was expecting this, it really impacted negatively to both Premium members and Free-Use members, it lowered the site's reputation for making this choice a reason for an easy cash-grab, it creates an image of "the rich and the poor", and the lack of reaction from dA after a good majority of user outbursts helps confirm these cons, which makes people even angrier.

Third and finally, news has surfaced recently that people could actually get suspended from having inappropriate content in their Sta.sh. Whatever happened to privacy?

Many times, dA would ask for feedback from its users whenever there were site changes. A lot of the time, the comments seem to go unread and the only positive feedback the staff pay attention to are usually the bug reports. What about us Beta Testers? Our job is to basically inform dA of any bugs or to test out something in particular (like the new site format before it became official). We basically test out new things that are on the way, but are left out of any decision making that could particularly impact the community like the new dA logo and the removal of Webcams. The more I've though about this, the more soupy my brain became. So I went back to look at the terms and conditions and I came to realize why a good majority of users seem to be entirely ignored by the staff:

This Service is provided by DeviantArt on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis and DeviantArt reserves the right to modify, suspend or discontinue the Service, in its sole discretion, at any time and without notice. You agree that DeviantArt is and will not be liable to you for any modification, suspension or discontinuance of the Service.

Translation: You will roll with whatever changes come to dA, no matter how much you dislike it or not.

This was stated in the very beginning of our agreement to becoming a member of Deviantart and we AGREED to that. We AGREED to not whine, complain, or rant about any changes because if we did, it would automatically be ignored. That's why we all feel like we haven't been heard by the staff. The evidence is right there in the Terms and Services, the very thing we didn't bother to read and instead checked off hastily so that we could get on with it and set up our accounts.

My personal opinion: The way things have been made out to be as of late, it almost feel like this website has become a dysfunctional hierarchy. We have the staff, volunteers, the senior members, premiums till hell freezes over, premiums, and the free-users. Basically, it's just the staff and volunteers that make all the decision-making and such while the others are just plain users, though some are more respected than others. But there is one thing that I really want to get out not just for me, but for the sake of other fellow deviants as well:

We have the right to freedom of speech and we deserve to have our voices heard. After all, that is what helped shaped dA's community in the first place. Bring back the community-feel and stop trying to divide this site. Please for once, just LISTEN to what we as members have to say! You have more than enough volunteers and staff members to help run the community. Focus on the people and not just the formatting of the website!

End of my part. It's now 1:30am and I'm very tired. Thank you for bearing with me on this and I'm sorry that this description appears to be such a huge wall of text to some.

What about that one rule where we're not allowed to post 18+ artwork?

Even though people do it anyway?

The 18+ artwork gets by becuse so many people like it and DA wants as many people as they can. When its not a story or pic drawed by some one its gets by with the, "Artist Nude" Lets face it DA was good then some turn it into like everyother web side, to grow, get more users and money.

It's a website, that serves as a hobby, not a life. I don't care. I could live without it. I treat it as such

BeadyEyedGirl In reply to Adammatic [2015-01-27 23:55:06 +0000 UTC]

The you don't really have a point commenting here. Some people on dA DO make art here so they could make a living out of it, I've known some that are currently doing it. If this website serves only as a hobby, why is there a "Buy Print" option on some pictures? And also, there are three levels of the artist on the dA ID: Student, Hobbyist AND Professional. Yeah, there ARE people who does art on dA on a professional level here, so please acknowledge their existence and mind your words.

Adammatic In reply to BeadyEyedGirl [2015-01-28 01:21:14 +0000 UTC]

Oh I understand that others use it for professional use and I encourage that if you are actually a good artist. But if you are not considered as that and your livelihood isn't threatened, then I suggest you are not allowed to complain and spread hate and conflict. If your DA profile doesn't show a consistent category or theme of art or promote a respectable business or income, then I suggest your account is nothing but a way to gather attention for yourself. I appreciate your stance though.

You know. Some one on there highhorse with a lot of power in there hands is going to see this and do two things. One brib you into getting rid of this by money or giveing you pream or something else and if that dosn't work they will get rid of this or just ban you. Also the sta.sh thing sent shivers down my spine. I know people are watching you from almost anywere at anytime but the sta.sh? That is MY SPOT, you do not go into MY SPOT. Also why are you getting ban from haveing "bad" things in your sta.sh, how "bad " is it? There tons of bad things on here so what could be so bad in your sta.sh that you get baned for it?

Nylten In reply to red10002 [2015-01-31 22:10:24 +0000 UTC]

Their banning process is skewed. People for a LONG time have been trying to tell dA that.

Yup. I suggest you check this out, they mentioned my journal about my group being closed.  I'm about done. This whole website has gone to utter shit. This whole dictatorship is abusing it's power. I'm not gonna be part of it anymore. It sickens me to see how a once community friendly website drained into a money grubbing tyrant.
Poor, Lazy Administrator Actions;

Especially when you're reporting someone for pornographic content with eleven links.

*Go ahead! Check'em out! Totally not sexual in any way, shape or form!
Falsely punishing the community as the people are doing all the work that the lazy admins should be doing;

The constant Premium Membership advertisements getting shoved down our throats.

^ Pretty much sums it up.
And let's not forget how creative

I remember when DeviantART was a fun place where everyone was free to do as they pleased and write and draw as they like with only one rule: Don't harass anyone else. Now, it seems like that past never existed and that the staff members are the bullies.

Just one question,in your artwork there are some pictures of nudes and a sign that says ''NO DIX''.What does that part mean?

"NO DIX" kinda points out to Deviantart Admins (Or Staff) banning people who puts sexual picture of men but just rolls with people who puts overly sexualized pictures of women.

A.k.a "NO DIX" = NO DICKS

Its honestly disgusting how dA changed so much. First it changed to facebook, the whole hashtag thing, feed, webcam for premiums and more. Not really fun when you have to follow rules to post your art. "Freedom of Creativity" has been massively sliced to "Do what we want". Uncool, bro, uuuuuncoool...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Nylten In reply to ConaloCSC [2015-01-31 22:12:02 +0000 UTC]

"Freedom of Creativity" with some standards.

"Big Brother is Watching"

"Four legs good, two legs bad." It's that sort of thing here nowadays.

ConaloCSC In reply to Nylten [2015-02-01 18:29:02 +0000 UTC]

BoopleSoup In reply to ??? [2015-01-27 10:14:33 +0000 UTC]

It is truly disgusting of what dA has become. Ever since they've changed the layout, everything else went into the domino effect. No.. it's ever since they've changed the symbols on the username. [For those who don't what what I'm talking about , it used to you get a symbol like '~username' if you're a regular member, '=username' for premium , and '*username' for beta testers (if I remember correctly. I forgot what the symbol for staff is )] At first it was a harmless change and everyone got used to it but now.. with these rapid changes in which almost NOBODY agrees on, how can anyone stay here any longer ?

They've really changed their own definition of what an art website is.

And yet we continue to fight for our rights. I'm not afraid of the staff. I'm not afraid to state the facts and the truth. How else are we ever gonna finally get through to the staff?

If this is got deleted by the staff (which hopefully it won't happen), then this says alot about them.
