A pretty simple plague doctor mask made in leather.
I exchanged this with an acquaintance for a horse skull. Me and my friend is going to use the skull as decoration in our medieval market stall.
Modelling the mask is: Jonas Lindh.

What does The Plague Doctor originate from? The only reason I know the name is because of YouTube such as Markiplier.

Those kinds of masks were used in the medieval times during the plague. It is said that in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries doctors wore a beak-like mask which was filled with aromatic items. The masks were designed to protect them from putrid air, which was seen as the cause of infection.

Im considering making a mask of my own...was it very difficult to make? also, what did you use for the structure of the "beak"? i was thinking if i had to i could weld together a wire frame but im not sure thats necessary as there may be easier ways to make one...

Thank you! ^^ No it wasnt very difficult, pretty easy pattern to make. There is nothing in the beak, its only three pieces of leather that I hand stitched together. With leather that is sturdy enough it will keep that shape
