Finally I managed to get some more decent photos of this sjörå ("water nymph").

A sjörå is a female water creature in Scandinavian folklore.
Sjö=lake. Rå/rådare=a mythological being that is a keeper or warden of a particular location or landform, like lakes, forests or mountains.
This rå is natures warden of the lake/s that's within her domain. She is a shapeshifter and can take the form of for example an abborre or gädda .

I have sculpted this using sculpey clay (those scales took forever! xD), molded it with silicone and cast it using resin.
I've then painted it by hand, with inspiration from the Swedish perch fish (abborre), using acrylic colours and given it a glossy protective finish.

She is mounted onto a wooden plate and has a sign that reads: "Sjörå, Exempl. nr.1, Juli-62".
If this doesn't get sold on the Midvinterglöd christmas market, I will make it available for purchase in the Etsy shop, sometime after Dec12.

Very detailed and well done work! The chose of base really complements the piece well. Did you envision the base from the start or decide on its presentation after completion of the nymph?

Thanks so much! Actually no, I had a plan to put this sjörå inside a lantern with faux water etc. But I didn't have time to finish it for the event I was bringing it to so my solution was this Next one I hope to have another set-up for ^^

Ah ok. The image I'm bringing up of the original idea sounds great! Only reason I ask was because the piece itself wasn't shaped to rest flat on that side, and it made me curious, . Good idea for the shift. I look forward to seeing the future pieces!

Thank you! I will bring this to an "alternative" christmas market at December 12 (in a week), if it doesn't get sold there I will put it in the Etsy shop

Oh yay! Well I hope someone buys it. It's a really nice piece and I'll also have to keep my eyes out incase someone doesn't buy it.
