My jeezus this took a long time, and it still looks like the background is made of bad clip art. Wanted to train on backgrounds, but I obviously must learn more about making textures as well as overall composition.

This is some fan art of Alanna of Olau and Pirate's swoop (former: Trebond) from the fantastic Tamora Pierce's Tortall-series! These books (Song of the Lioness and The immortals in particular) proudly shared first place among my favourite books besides Harry Potter.
Alanna is the first lady Knight in Tortall in centuries, here portrayed on her horse Moonlight, outside of her new domain of Pirate's swoop after marrying (somewhere soon after Lioness Rampart takes place I guess).
