I wanted to upload this after the contest so no one got too confused on which design they were supposed to use. Chrono Wing actually went through a couple sketches that now I wish I'd saved before I landed on this and then made a few changes from this to his reference sheet. I started out drawing him almost like a lion, thinking about giving him a long, slender body with a solid light mane, but then I looked at it and didn't think it was fitting for a powerful creature of chronomancy. I then thought about making him a dragon and started going for a lithe figure with lanky legs, but that didn't look right either, I wanted him to look sleek, but strong, like it would take a lot to bring him down, but he was still fast; that's when I started sketching this. I wanted to make him look like a tough dragon, but still bring across that mythical creature feel, so I made his wings out of metal pieces that floated below the bases, which I later decided would also float, held together by magnetism and/or magic. I also rusted the larger "feathers", originally intending to give him more of them, but I already wanted to die a little with how many damn lines were on there just because of the feathers, and I figured if I was having trouble, I shouldn't do that for a character I was intending other people to draw. I also thought he should look high-tech in a way, mixing it with the rust on his wings to bring through that time creature feel, and I usually think of futuristic, high-tech things having light, cool colors like green and blue. I did also make an adjustment to his horns, since here I had him with a third horn curving backwards on his head and forcing his larger, fancier horns to lie back instead of up so they could show better, like they are now in his reference sheet. I just thought it would be neat to show y'all how Chrono Wing looked in his first lined and colored design.
