Description
Aderyn was in a particularly happy mood tonight. Most of the time she was happy and chill, but this evening was special. She had saved up plenty of spare cash from her job as a yoga teacher to splash it at The Green Spa, which she had read online about. It was all well and good reading about the high end machines used for relaxing and purifying the body, but what Aderyn was look forward was the chance to let loose and go with the flow of the warm pools. She liked warm pools, if she had the chance all of the rooms of her house would have a warm pool in them. Being in the warmth felt the closest, in her mind, to truly living in the moment. No past and no future to worry over, just...that single moment. With her backpack and trusted staff in hand, she was well prepared. She walked across the city, looking for the spa. Despite the address it was tricky to find such a place in a chaotic city like Greenwitch Vale. From the twisted buildings at every corner, to the streets filled with bustling local businesses, even down to the witches that often bumped into her large gut, the city never seemed to sleep. The witch strolled along the side of a walkway, looking down into the lower levels of the city to see if she could spot the place. It was then that she spotted a large, dark figure clamped on the side of the bridge. Not used to dark figures clamped on the sides of bridges, Aderyn yelled. The dark figure grunted and shook, startled at having been spotted before its grip began to falter. The figure yelled as it began to fall, which prompted Aderyn to thrust her staff over the edge. The staff let out a burst of green energy which enveloped the figure, saving it from being splattered all over the street below. The energy illuminated the figure, revealing her fangs, claws and a monster of a gut. Aderyn peeked over the edge to see the stranger as she floated back up.
“Hey, you alright down there? You’re not meant to climb walls like that, could have gotten yourself killed!” Aderyn shouted, a little disappointed that this stranger would risk her life. The stranger looked up, her blotchy face full of anger.
“I had it under control, vitch! I would have gotten vis vungus if it veren't for you!” She shouted at the witch. Aderyn narrowed her eyes, that voice sounded familiar. That thick accent, she had heard it before in college.
“Yeah I’m sure getting yourself splattered on the ground was under your- oh my gods, is that you Truagha? It’s me, Aderyn! Remember?” Aderyn's eyes widened as the memories came flooding back, this stranger was none other than her old roommate Truagha! She was a part of the college's student exchange program, and was lumped in with her for a while. She looked totally different from the slender vampire she once shared a room with, had it really been so long. The vampire remained unfased as she floated in the air.
“From college?” The witch asked, still no response.
“I was that witch with the books, on the top bunk of the bed?” Truagha's eyes widened, the foolish witch that had prevented her biological endavour was that geek Aderyn from college! This was awkward, she thought no one would have rembered her. For her, it was easier to sink into the shadows and conduct research when no one had a clue of who she was. Less trouble too.
“Oh, you’re vhat girl! You’ve...changed.” Truagha looked down at the witch's figure, she had known the witch to be an eater back then but it looked as if she bit more than she could have chewed. Her stomach had grown four times the size of a regular witch, a scientific curiousity in the eyes of the old vampire.
“So have you, was your stomach always that freaky or has it been that long?” Aderyn asked as she put the vampire down on the bridge next to her, what transpired to make Truagha look they way she looked now must have not been pretty. Multiple sacs covered the surface, slowly pulsating and churning contents around like some sort of machine.
“Vur the record, all vis was after college.” Truagha darted her eyes away as she stroked the larger green sac on her enormous gut. Aderyn was not used to seeing another with a stomach as big as hers, let alone an old roommate of hers.
“Oh, well everyone is beautiful in their own way! Even if they do smell like rotten flesh.” The witch nervously laughed as she wafted her hand against the air, that stench was enough to make flowers die.
“Vhat is the price for living down below, you tend to stink.” Truagha shrugged as she scratched her neck. It was then that Aderyn had an idea that would benefit the both of them.
“Hey, I don’t usually offer this to people I’ve just met again after 23 years, but would you like to come down with me to the spa? I need to relax and I kinda feel at fault for spooking you off the bridge.” Aderyn asked, rubbing her hand against the back of her head. Truagha paused, her eyes darting from side to side as she pondered the offer. In those few seconds it was as if the vampire was mentally debating the positives and negatives of it. At least she didn't lose her sharp mind over the years, Aderyn thought. Her body relaxed as she glared straight at the pudgy witch.
“I don’t like public spaces...but vhat vill suffice. Might make more findings in vis 'spa' anyways.” Truagha answered, to which Aderyn gave the widest smile she could muster before dragging her old roommate by the hand. She still had to find the spa place in this crazy city, but knowing she had an equally large friend to accompany her would make the journey worth it.
“That’s great! Two former college roommates catching up, this is going to be a good time!" Aderyn yelled happily throughout the street.
