Description
... or "Oh, God! This is insane!"----
This insanity's prologue:
Once upon a time, in a faraway land, a young princess lived in a shining castle. Although she had everything her heart could ever desire, the princess never became spoiled, selfish, or unkind.
But then, one winter's night, one of her many pursuers came to the castle and demanded her to be his wife while holding a rose as an engagement offering.
Having always been repulsed by his ill manners and cruel nature, the princess refused and turned the evil suitor away, but he warned her not to be deceived by her belief that her life should always be so fortunate. And when she dismissed him again, the evil man's handsomeness melted away to reveal a demonic sorcerer.
The princess tried to escape, but it was too late, for the spell was already cast, and as revenge, he transformed her into a hideous beast, and placed a powerful spell on the castle, and all who lived there.
Ashamed of her monstrous form, the beast concealed herself inside her castle, with a magic mirror as her only window to the outside world.
The rose he had forced on her was actually an enchanted rose, which would bloom until her sixteenth year. If she could find someone who could love her despite her form by the time the last petal fell, then the spell would be broken. If not, she would be doomed to remain a beast for all time.
As the years passed, she fell into despair, and lost all hope, for what sort of man could ever learn to love a beast?
----
This sucker was a pain to make. About 90% of the times I started my art program, the thing shut down. Perhaps it is getting too old? Perhaps that image was too complex? Oh well. It is done! Heck, yeah!
That narration is basically in the same structure of the BatB movie despite the changes. I figured it needed something to start it off, since it is hard (not impossible, but hard) to make a plausible story with a spoiled, selfish, and unkind female beast being able to have a beautiful man fall for her. Nope. Femelle-bête will have to play along the lines of the actual fairytale - KIND. Beau will pretty much be the same as Belle I guess...
Yeah. His mother is sick - and is considered a loon due to it - so he goes off to town to get her some meds. On his way back he gets lost in a storm, seeks shelter in the foreboding castle. Femelle-bête notices him but hides (like the fairy tale) until the rose comes into play. Yeah. That'll do.
For their main interaction I mainly see her showing awkwardness and humor more than roaring and growling, though. That and shame... shame at how silly she looks and feels trying to be the princess she truly is when stuck in body not meant to stand on two legs and hand-paws that are bigger than any woman's.
Beau's main problem would be seeing her as anything beyond an animal companion, friend, family member. I could see him pitying her greatly, being charmed by her vulnerably and amused when she fails at human actions. But seeing her as more than that despite how human her mind and emotions are... Talk about torn. Even if he did recognize his feelings for romantic, he'd be scandalized by the thought of possible bestiality!
Gaston is likely in there somewhere... but as a chick. My what a gal that... Giverny? Yeah, odd choice, But! Gaston is French and means "From Gascony" and Giverny is French and means "From Giverny"... both places are of course in France. Ha!
The sad thing I have found through all of this however is... Belle makes a better looking man than Beast... and Beast does not make much for a human woman. No sir. How do I know? The penciling of this little number was of them both as humans - needed the human to get the correct shape for the Beast part.
Oh, and the BatB princess dress is a B!TCH to color...
----
Blah. Well, other than that... This insanity was inspired by this:

It's sad to say but the Prince (in the original) did look better in Beast-form. But I think it was more from lack of real effort on Disney's part since the Prince would only be seen for what thirty seconds? A minute and a half, two tops?

I don't know... I think they were trying to make a face that went with the Beast's physique. I'd assume they designed Beast first and thought later, "Ooh... we need a human that could look somewhat similar to Beast." Thus the brow, the "noble" nose, the pouty lips and the chin... The best way to look at him is as Michelangelo's David but with long hair and in 2-D.

Yeah, but they also seemed to have not put in the same effort on the Prince than they did on the Beast. I wish they had, it would been nice to actually the Prince with some personality. I know he and the Beast were one and the same, but you never know if perhaps his personality as a Beast was because he WAS a Beast. You don't know how he's going to turn out when he gets his Prince form back.

Also, in answer to the "Disney pedophilia" charge . . . in the 18th or 19th centuries, when Beauty & the Beast is set; 16 years old was considered adulthood, and many women especially were married around that age. In earlier centuries, 14 was considered a marriageable age -- especially when the average life expectancy was only 30 - 40!
It's only as our modern life spans have increased, and we have formalized rules and regs as to what constitutes minors vs. adults that marrying at 16 doesn't have either the acceptance or appeal it did in times past. Fairy tales however, haven't quite caught up with this modern trend yet!

Believe it or not, you've done a very thought-provoking, and even beautiful piece here.
Until I read your quite inventive explanation, I too thought Belle was the Beast, as the female Beast has the movie Belle's hair styling and height relative to the male here (I won't even try to attach a name to him here to avoid things getting REALLY confusing!)
The interesting thing to me though is the issue of just what is attractive and beautiful to others. Sometimes I've wondered if I could make the same kind of "leap" Belle did in the movie, and come to love someone who by conventional standards wasn't all that attractive. The amazing thing here, is that this piece kind of crystallizes to me what I find attractive in a female -- namely relative slimness, nicely styled long hair, nice eyes, and a sincere grateful or optimistic outlook. I was very surprised actually that I found enough to say "yes" to about the female in this picture. So in a strange way, thank you for helping me to confirm (and hold out for, as I'm single) what I find attractive in women!
To me though, an essential part of the movie Beast's character is his frustrated, tortured personality. It formed a key dramatic barrier that kept Belle at a distance for a good third of the film. So I would say that this female beast could work initially being selfish and unkind (as I've met a number of women who could seem that way!), with the male "Belle" here being initially dismissive and repulsed by her frustrated, rough behavior as the movie Belle was. They could eventually come together as she overcomes her disenchantment with life and love, as well as her natural current fears of rejection; as he eventually comes to discover her inner beauties.
I think there are some interesting story possibilities here! Thank you for opening this all up with this supposed piece of "insanity"! I think it's a lot saner than some may think!

Belle's age was never stated.
Why? *Shrugs* Goes with the time. Disney seemed to find 16 the appropriate age to use in the few times they actually mention ages for other princesses. Why not use it on other female characters?

Or in this case, beastiality and pedophilia. But then again, it's based on a French tale where such things are permissable, so...XD

I think beast looks beautiful in this pic even in the monterious form. Besides the extra stength could help, if she has any like the original version. So even if the rose petals were all gone, beast would still look pretty and Belle or whoever the man would be call would still love her no matter what.
Besides, a cool idea would is that is Beast would remain in the current form and marry Bella, I wonder what the children would look like. Maybe I should have a request of them being married in a pic and see what their children would look like...

Blame it on the artist studying Michelangelo's works then. I don't remember the name really... Keene? Anyway, the dude studied a lot of Michel's sculptures to get the transformation sequence down. If you ever see the stature of David, that was done 1501 to 1504, you'll see the similarities of the faces. yep... blame it in Michel.
