Edit: Nobody is upset that AI art exists or that it can generate an image, not a single artist is upset about that part. We're upset that it has already used our art for the algorithm without permission, credit or payment. For this to have been done properly they should have used copyright free, open source images only or commissioned artists to use for reference for their data sets. But they didn't, they helped themselves to everyone's art for free so they could outsource our work to AI :'D

Also if you aren't even an artist then why are you here defending AI? You don't have any right to tell us that you're sick of seeing this protest everywhere, you have no stakes in this whatsoever. Nothing was stolen from you and your livlihood is not at stake. If you don't even have the empathy and decency to side with human artists then why are you on an established creative website? Also this might not affect you yet but this is just the tip of the iceberg of what AI can do, maybe it replaces your job next and I'm sure nobody else will care about it happening to you either.

This is basically the AI equivalent of being forced to train someone to do your job and then the company hires them to replace you.

AI is using our art to take creative skilled jobs away from artists. It gives corporations more options to exploit working people and increase profits, instead of hiring people that have the skills to do the job.

None of us consented to this breach of copyright, and in addition to stealing our art for their algorithms, it turns emotion, passion and creativity into a soulless amalgamation of existing artworks.
